Delta defers 100 seat RFP

No offense to Airtran guys, because a good friend of mine is a CA there, but Delta manuals and training would be completely different than Airtran's. All Delta's manuals are in a certain format - it would make for a difficult transition to use another airline's style of writing and procedures.

you guys at american delta and united have 3 of the biggest contract votes in the history of our industry coming your way. TO quote airplane "good luck we are all counting on you" Skywest announces this thing how they are going to buy hundreds of replacement planes and incase people didnt know Trans States Holding Co also has signed intent to buy that mitsubishi regional jet. These are bold moves by CEO's of regionals that think that you guys are going to cave and give in on scope. Pinnacle also has a lot of options on the q 400 as well and they are making a stretch 90 seat version of that so dont count that plane out of scope either. A lot of us regional guys are pulling for you in this battle. We fly the planes we are told to fly. Don't let us fly anything bigger unless I am swinging gear for you (which i am pretty good at i might add)

Really? You sound like you have it all figured out. So the best option for those guys is what? Finish flight school and apply to Fedex, SWA, and DAL because thats where they really want to work right?
I don't know where you work (Doesn't matter really) but the majors gave up that flying and the problem started here and it is our job to stop the leak. People are not going to quit their job and stop feeding their kids because its better for your QOL.
In case you mean't something else, sorry and carry on.

The tittle of this thread mentions 100-seats not a MD-88 replacement. IMHO, DAL needs a DC9-30 replacement more than a DC9-40/50/88 replacement right now. A 100 seater would work wonders in those former Heartland markets like GFK and FAR which now see a mix of CR2s, CR7s, CR9s, E70s, E75s, 32Ss and M88s. A true 100-seater like the CS-100, a 98-seater like the ARJ21-900 or a 106-seater like the B717 would right size some markets offer a more homogeneous gauge of equipment and reclaim scope where the M88 and 32S might be too big.

AGAIN, I don't really care what somebody does with their career. But the six figure income/good schedule/home a lot/senior regional types aren't going anywhere. And that's fine with me, it just means they'll stay the hell out of my way when applying to a better job.
As others have mentioned, you ever seen the inside of the 737's that various airline's pilots can fly in a single day?

The hung about CALs operation is they combine the 752, 753, 762 and 764 into one category. I believe all it requires is for the classics to have a PFD with a speed tape and you can bounce between them all.
Right now the 88 and DC9 are separate categories. To me seems like they should be able to run 717s as separate especially if they can pick up extra 717s from someone who doesn't want theirs.
I've got folks who've mentioned that we have folks here at DAL that recently did the quick 717 differences course. Not sure if that is true but that was from a year ago.
