Delta Representation Discussion

Ok, so here's something to debate over:
I'm considering putting forth 3 resolutions regarding election of ALPA leadership.
Currently, we have a system where our MEC chairs are elected by the reps, thus being one level removed away from the membership. Then, national leadership is a second level removed away from the membership. Additionally, all the committee types are appointed and not elected. I believe that can (and has in the past) promote a good ol' boys club or inner circle type environment that is a major cause of the DPA movement gaining so much traction.
I propose:
Membership vote for MEC leadership
Membership vote for committee chairs
This is more complex, but a representative membership vote for national leads. Since all the associations vote, I propose that for the x% proportion of our population that votes for candidate A, that x% of the MEC has to vote for that candidate. For y% for candidate B, y% (to the nearest integer) of reps have to vote for candidate B. Sort of an electorate type system.
Thoughts?

Well this is so hypocritical, that it's unbelievable.
The last communication from our ALPA MEC chairman was angry and personal. Let's keep the emotion out of this business decision. There is no us versus them. America is the greatest country on earth because of our freedom to debate, to question, to complain. Let's have the vote, and unify behind the winner and share the success we all so richly deserve.

I have utmost respect for the senior line Captain that wrote this letter. He really doesnt need to do anything but fly his senior trips and get paid. Maybe DALPA needs a few guys like this to run the show.
We dont know that, do we? Im willing to take the risk if DALPA/ALPA does not change their ways.

I don't agree with that philosophy either, btw...
Changing the bargaining agent won't fix the problem. getting to know who is working for you and making sure you get quality people doing the job is the only way to improve things...

It was a simple letter with many achievable goals. I hope part of those goals thwart the Mideast Carriers' plans to invade the USA.
