Apparently he's a DTW 320 A. Far better writer than Caplinger. It'll be interesting to see if this is a consistent thing in the future.

Do a quick scan of the Hangar Talk section on the ALPA forum for some perspective on Captain Fielding's writing (ranting.)

He is the best example of DPA's belief that if we demand it loud enough, it will be true. Nearly every post of his is filled with ANGRY CAPS and lots of exclamation points!!!!!!!

The very fact that his name is attached to the DPA, publicly now, should give everyone pause. His deliberate mis-representation of our Duty Period Average (a different kind of DPA) was not a mistake. Jerry knows very well that our DPA is 5:15 for lineholders (not 5.) At that rate, it takes 15.24 days (not 20) to reach 80 hours, assuming you can't hold avg credit higher than that. He is spinning, promising, and saying anything he can think of to get guys to fill that card out.

I'll make it even clearer actually (and I'll do it in Jerry Fielding's real writing style) - HE IS LYING!!!!!!!!!!!!

He is right about one thing. This is a business decision. The decision should be based on results in the real world, not a feel-good, empty promise to make all our dreams come true. We will keep trending towards his "goals" but we won't get there with the DPA.

Now that TC has teamed up officially with Jerry, I will never consider renewing my card. That dream team has disaster written all over it.

Bingo. For this individual to call anyone out for "angry and personal" letters is absolutely ridiculous.

Search his posts on the ALPA board.

I'll hold my nose and go log on.

While he misspoke on the duty period average, at least in my category, there are a pile of 19 hour 4-day trips and 13:30 hour 3-day trips. That is not near 5:15 a day. You're routinely only getting 4:30 ADG instead of DPA.

You know the future? There are a lot higher paying jobs out there that you could have if you have precognitive abilities.

Sorry, kept tweaking my post while you were quoting me. I still stand by all of it.

All I ask is everyone do some research on the "leadership" that DPA is putting forward. You may think ALPA sucks, but if DPA gets ahold of the reigns, we ain't seen nuthin' yet.

I'd be more impressed if they'd come out and say, as he was alluding to in his letter, that the Delta pilot needs to be unified "behind the winner." It's the only way forward.

I say if the DPA can't play their cards by the end of the year, they need to give it up. This sentiment is shared by many on this board, including Purple Drank, who is staunchly anti-anything-ALPA. A public statement from JF or TC to this effect would go a long way in showing me that they actually give a rat's behind about the pilot group - and that this is not the personal vendetta that it appears to be, by two notorious "angry" men.

Drop the cards by midnight on New Year's Eve or GTFO. Let's move on with more important things like actually achieving Jerry's goals in C2015.

Agreed, and that totally sucks and needs fixin'. However, remember that prior to C2012 there was no ADG and the trip you reference was only worth 10:30. We are making progress.

I still stand by the fact that Jerry was intentionally mis-representing our Duty Period Average. He was playing with fuzzy math, and I have no doubt that it was on purpose.

Yep... and I'm sure you remember me being very adamant during the C2012 debate that 4:30 was selling us way short and well below par for a new contract.

I deleted the email... would anyone mind posting the text of the letter?
