That's how I feel about it as well. Still, some of these gentlemen are experts who we would not want to resign. Like any team, you never want to lose your star players. In this profession, it seems we've been in the playoffs for 15 years without a break and the Bowl game is always on the immediate horizon.
What muddies the water considerably is that nearly everyone seems to feel they were acting defensively or defending their friends and political allies. That sort of thinking results in a stand-off followed by a shoot out by recall resolution.
The way I see it, politicians come and go. What matters are the ideas, dedication and perseverance. The way I see it, there are roughly a half dozen to a dozen very key positions impacted. Forgotten are the 600 to 700 volunteers who continue their work serving Delta pilots, as well as the 10,600 pilots they serve.
Political friend or foe, my first thought it always ... thank you. People take time away from their hobbies, their families, the things they love to do this thankless job of trying to help others in their profession.

3. The MEC Secretary (Treasurer/Vice Chairman) will carry out the duties and responsibilities of his office as prescribed by the ALPA Constitution and By-Laws, the ALPA Administrative Manual, and this Policy Manual. He will:
a. Carry out any assignment as directed by the MEC chairman or the MEC.
a. Carry out any assignment as directed by the MEC chairman or the MEC.

I think there is a lot of confusion due to lack of communication between the MEC/MEC Officers and the line pilots.
My understanding is that the recall of the MEC Chairman was requested by one group of reps and that the recall of the other three officers was a separate motion by a different group of reps. There were 2 reps that didnt support either resolution.
ALPA Bylaws only require 30% of the sitting reps to request a SPECIAL MEC meeting before it becomes reality. In this case one group requested it for the Chairman recall and the other group responded by requesting the additional recalls. The decision was made to handle both requests at a single Special MECmeeting rather than at two separate Special MEC meetings.
Back of the envelope math suggests that neither group at this time has the required 2/3 senatorial to recall anyone and neither group has the required senatorial majority to request the roll call vote.
I talked to one rep that said the dysfunction is not something that just happened yesterday or in the last week . Its been percolating for many months and he thought they had run out of all other options other than a recall.
Just my $.02

Different players entirely. S reps going after a S chairman. No N Rep involvement on the KR letter. The letter originated from the SLC, CVG, Capt Reps, and one of the ATL Capt Reps and was joined by both LAX Reps, the SLC and NYC f/o Rep, one of the ATL f/o Reps (AG) and the other ATL Capt Rep.

Which guys? The resigned hand-picked Executive Administrator or the fired hand picked Executive Administrator? We're on our third Communications Committee Chairman picked by KR, one of whom resigned just weeks after his confirmation. Or his pick for Strat Planning, Code Share, and International Affairs?
I guess the fired EA really wasn't so bad...seems KR rehired him.
The other 3 MEC officers duties are defined in the policy manual and answer to the MEC. They don't make personnel decisions. Those are the Chairman's picks, so he owns all the personnel turmoil. That's what makes the recall of the other 3 officers look like political theater.

All this shadowy palace intrigue is unacceptable. Let's cut through the BS.
The presumption around here that anonymity is required is inappropriate.
There is no reason we need to be speaking in code.
These union honchos are all "public figures". They are either elected or appointed to high ranking official positions in a very large labor organization. They do so of their own free will. A certain degree of public scrutiny and criticism is completely normal. They have no expectation of privacy that would require us to use their initials or refrain from typing their names on this forum.
Nobody is talking about posting their home addresses but calling them out publicly by name for their political activities is absolutely fair game.
Now that we have that out of the way, would someone care to provide a scorecard style line-up of all the players? I think the rank and file pilots have a right to know what's going on with their union.
Maybe I'm hopelessly ignorant and uninformed compared to all the other APC readers but I didn't know we had all this infighting and discord on our MEC. I want to know who is who and I want to see a free and open debate of all the issues that are dividing these guys so I know who to support and who to oppose.
All this closed door cloak and dagger back-stabbing is pretty disgusting. These people are in charge of millions of our dues dollars. They need to explain themselves and they need to be held accountable.
Anybody ALPA insiders have the courage to explain all this?
