Get your degree done. It's a lot of work but pretty much required in this game.

99% of American's street hires have 4-year degrees. There's always the exception, but it's rare.

Question to AA and DAL pilots. According to the respective web sites and recent hires, both only require the ATP written to apply. Is this true? I would like to start the clock and update the app when the practical is accomplished. I know from a UAL chief pilot that they require the practical to apply. Any help is appreciated.

If that's what it says then that's the bare bones requirement. Not a bad way to get the unofficial/semi-official "time stamp" on your app. When did you apply? The day I met your qualifications. Great interview story.

You're not going to get hired at that point, but why not apply.

Interviewed with JetBlue last April.
Offered a class date in July.
Wound up turning down the offer as a corporate offer came in at the same time that fit my life circumstances better - but figured I would submit my background here for those interested.

All Civilian. ~7500 tt, 6300 turbine, 6500 multi, 1800 turbine PIC, 6 type ratings (biz jets, BA3100, and a 727 SIC type.) 2 year degree. 46 years young.
Background is 135 charter, commuter(when they were called that), yellow/red cargo 727s, then back to 135 charter (now part 91 corporate).
Hope that helps.

Definitely appreciate you posting. It's good to see and hear from all walks of life in this business.

Former charter guy myself. Congrats on the corporate gig!
