"The industry will become a million times safer as all training would be conducted by the Major Airline itself."

How many regional airline training programs have you reviewed?
How many major airline training programs have you reviewed?

It's interesting talking with military guys that go the regional route awaiting a call from the majors. The guys I've spoken with speak highly of the training programs they went through. So I'm curious as to which companies you've identified as under performers, and why? And which training programs do you think have gotten better at the majors?

And if the training is better at the majors why did the DOT IG just say the training, across the industry, isn't good enough?

There wouldn't be a bidding war or a race to the bottom as they say. Hiring standards would go up and better quality of people will become Airline Pilots since now it's a real profession with real salaries. There wouldnt be these cheesy names like go jets, envoy, republic, endeavor, commutair, etc, etc, etc...It would simply be American Airlines or Delta Airlines or United Airlines painted on these aircraft..There is a lot more to it but you folks get the idea..Cost is NOT a factor, I assure you. Net, net it's a win win situation for management and employee groups..BUT, the problem is that pilots at the Majors didn't want this because they thought they were better than regional pilots..They thought flying an RJ was below them so management is not alone to blame..The industry can be fixed and it's really not that hard either..Will it happen? That is to be seen

Slice NAILED it.

Getting hired at a legacy at your age was an impressive feat. But as you said, you weren't the first and you won't be the last.

But a slight bit of naïveté/ignorance is showing through here. As far as the bold part, NO. It WOULDN'T fix the "industry". Pilots being on a mainline list DOESNT fix an industry where the companies are a "Corp" or "Inc" and is STILL driven by Wall St, stock price, share holder value, quarterly reports, CASM, RSM's, whatever......

It would simply help the CAREER get BACK to where it belongs.

Annnnnnnnnnd, as COD said, who else has been hired lately?

He's 24 and he assures you based on his 6 months employment in private equities.

Good point Sliceback. I am a former Navy tailhook pilot. Went through American Eagle training in 2004 and I was impressed overall with the quality of training. Granted the training was conducted at AAL facilities (the ERJ sim in same bldg as the mainline AA sims), but the instructors and the IOE captains were 100% American Eagle.

My only real complaint was the paycheck.

I've been thinking the same thing. I've been waiting for the straw to break the camel's back.

It could just be an English as a second language deal, but I'm skeptical. I hope we're proved wrong.

Some impressive previous posts - although talk is cheap; internet talk cheaper - but you seriously believe what you write above? A "better quality of people"???? You mean investment banker types that could have made 3 mil a year? Sign me up for that flight crew And while absorbing the regionals would be a win-win for both sides of the fence, it is not done because regional flying, or even flying an RJ, is 'beneath' them..? That's a pretty powerful pilot group making those kinds of decisions.
