Come within 80% of offering what Emirates provides as a service and this threat is a moot argument. At this point not even close.

What a load of self serving worthless deflective bull****. Your "mediocre service" has NOTHING to do with any of this, but rather is simply flamebait.

The same pilots are facing worsening contracts (PSA, Endeavor, Eagle, now XJT) and are desperately looking to improve their condition. Another 5 years under these work rules is not a favorable option compared to a foreign carrier. And these contracts are a direct result of Delta, USAir and AA need for cheap domestic flying. They are pushing their own potential pilot pool to look elsewhere.

Your managers are alienating a large portion of your future support and sowing deep resentment.

No no, I've read through this entire thread twice and at no point have you posted anything to substantiate your assertions about Boeing other than your Congressman and two Senators, along with their respective staffers, have ALL told you (because you are so important that you can command time with Congressmen and multiple Senators) personally that Boeing is granting ME airlines (aka EK) rights to US routes for aircraft orders. You sir are full of it.

If you have a problem with Emirates and Etihad taking over the world with their horrible $250K/yr salaries and their 42 days of vacation/yr and atrocious non-rev to 90 countries worldwide and their dismal lie-flat seating and their 16 days off a month...

Wait what? Bring on the Emirates JFK base!!!!!

Ghilis…..

16 days off a month? Not even possible at Emirates as we have a max 15 days off per month… oh and 7 day max in a row! Company has said only working 9-12 days off a month as in a 777 line at a legacy carrier is akin to "stealing from the company"!! Wow…. Oh, and this month I have over 91 hours hard flying and only 8 days off!

Just an fyi for everyone.

Maybe the productivity here is a tad more than most US carriers?

Are you going to leave EK? It would take a lot to walk away from the left seat there. The money is too good. I just had this conversation with my brother (EK 330/340 CA) about coming back to the US. The pay cut is too steep for too long. I'd much rather see EK and EY bring US basing so that guys like me dont have to make a painful decision. I guess it depends on how you view what these airlines have done for the industry. Theyre the best product service wise. The pilots have their gripes, but I'll take 80-90 double crew hours a month in a 777 over 80 hours flying a 737 up and down the east coast in a 2 man crew. Its all about perspective. I like the product these airlines offer.

Will I leave EK? A lot of us have on "Golden Handcuffs" here. Although I could leave, I do enjoy the flying quite a bit… and my sh*t bucket hasn't quite reached the full level yet, but it is rapidly approaching that limit!!

At EK, we fly the equivalent of an LAX-BOS turn…. all nighter… 2 man crew. What makes it legal I guess is that we can take a 40 minute snooze as per SOP's. Still a tough one any way you look at it.

I'd say if EK had to follow most Legacy contracts in the US, we'd have at least several hundred more pilots on the list to cover the scenario I just told you about… and we have at least several of these each day AND night!

That shows me Boeing's complicity in political influence peddling and aircraft orders contingent upon changing US laws. This is as close as we'll probably ever get because parties don't normally write influence peddling contingencies into contracts. Those kind of understandings are verbal. The Sheik just verbally reminded Boeing of it just the other day.

People like you would probably not believe it with a videotape of the conversation, so stop the charade that evidence doesn't meet your standard. Your bread is being buttered somehow by this stuff staying concealed. My bread is buttered by shining light on this and hoping US law remains the same. We'll see who wins.

Ok I have been following this thread without comment but must interject now. Carl, you are misquoting the Shiek. That threat was to Airbus over access to Germany. It has nothing to do with Boeing. See for yourself...
