Certainly every airline has their own QOL shortcomings.
For one example on the QOL side: Non-Commutable lines could be helped out by higher pay (i.e. one can now afford a hotel room and be better rested prior to clocking in the next day).
But I don't work at Mesa right now, and don't know what the biggest QOL issues are.

I’m interested as well. Personally I’d like to see more days off on reserve. I would like a higher long call percentage. The main QOL issue I see is perceived inability to modify awarded schedules. Staffing fixes that. Properly staffed this airline (and any) is a dream. Hoping this pay helps resolve that.
I don't work at Mesa and am relying on current pilots to share their thoughts and opinions on perceived QOL issues. But point taken that each airline will have their own QOL shortcomings.
Commutability of lines is one example. With better pay, one can afford a hotel room if they need it on the front and back end of a trip. Not all QOL issues would be solved by pay. Some would just be more "palatable". What are some of the most common gripes amongst Mesa pilots as it relates to QOL?

It’s basically like having a line that you have no control over. No thank you.
I agree that more days off on reserve would be great. Having only 11 days off on reserve is absolute hell on a commuter. Spending 5-6 days in a row at a crash pad and usually only having 2-3 days off between duty. It’s rough on the home life.

Long call is pretty useless. I did it a couple times during Covid thinking I’d be able to chill at home on a 12 hour call out (I’m a commuter). Not. You’re the first reserves they use. Every single time, a day or two before my reserve period was to begin, I was given a four day trip on my schedule. In two months of long call, there was only one day I wasn’t used during my reserve duty.

Virtually all reserves are being done by Captains because they are qualified for both seats and there are way more Captains than FOs. Not sure if it's the exact same on both fleets tho.

For the past 2 months that has been the case for FOs. There are a few who intentionally bid reserve for weekends off, etc. but everyone who bid for a line got one. That will change at some point, but for now there is zero reserve for FOs

I said a month because when you finish ioe you’ll be on reserve until eligible for the next bid period. That’s been the typical Mesa way. More ca than fo. Fo rarely sit reserve.

Fair enough, although recently pretty much everyone gets a consolidation line. Guys are literally hitting the line rn without doing one single day of reserve.

You can guess what examiner did that. The training department is in shambles. People failing “AQP” or recurrent training should not be happening as often as it does. I’m outta here regardless of the pay increase specifically because of our training department.
