Haha. Great PR move to promote SJS.

"Give us $60,000, let us pay you next to nothing while you build time and then after 18 months, you can make a little more than next to nothing for 2-3 years flying this 'regional' jet."

What do you suggest them to do?

That's not true. I know of several captains with 15,000 hours that I feel are not competent to be in a RJ. It amazes me how they pass re-qual. But the first thing out of their mouth is I have 15,000 hours. Let me re-phrase that. Have no business being in the left seat of an RJ.

Okay, enough. You are allowed to be critical of propaganda. The company can do whatever they like. It's a great PR move for both parties to show of their shiny new airplanes to suckers at certificate mills like ATP. It is, however, the only source of information some of these people are getting. There are no career counselors giving them other options. If you call ATP, they are going to tell you that it makes sense to be thrown into their half-baked program. They want your $60,000. They want you to come work for them for $8 an hour of flight time. They want you to think that the only way to fly the 175 is to give them your money and work for them.

The only way to combat this is through education and enlightenment. It is to allow other avenues for flight training; ones that will not put flight students in debt for the rest of their careers while working for below poverty wages while instructing and barely above as an airline pilot. Or, we could all just hop on the company bandwagon and praise both ATP and Mesa for all the great things they are doing for aviation. (Note: if Skywest, Compass, GoJet or Republic were doing this, I'd be saying the exact same thing. Quit thinking that I'm after Mesa).

Yep - I think I'll keep her around

Haha, that's fantastic. And it's incredibly nice to hear about a pilot who's made it work with this family. Too many guys reference divorce or joke about a third wife and it's discouraging for a young guy with a girlfriend/fiance/wife who wants that relationship to last. So thank you.

What's the mix of E175 vs CR9 slots for newhires these days?

Based on what I've seen in the training department the last month, for every ~50 new hires, ~12 go to the ERJ. So maybe a dozen a month.

When you're hired, you can ask for the Embraer but you may wait longer for a class.
