maybe ill start in caravans or beech 1900's. i really havnt made the decision of where i want to go yet. but i dont believe that because im a weak pilot now that i cant improve and work towards being a good and proficient pilot at a regional. there is too much time invested to just walk away now. if i have to start small thats fine but to say that i should walk away from the entire profession well ill tell you right now that simply isnt going to happen.

I wouldn't always count on being able to base hop like that--it only works when we're hiring and needing FOs in all bases.
Two things are going to happen later this year:
1) Last 900s on property
2) FO staffing levels (training bubble) to account for EJet/CRJ upgrades several months out could be achieved
Unless there's a big uptick in attrition or an acceleration of EJet deliveries (which could happen), base hopping might not work.
I'm just saying be cautious when doing that--the current pace of FO hiring and growth can't last forever, and "oh it's just LAX for a month brah" can quickly turn into months, years, lifetimes.
YMMV//just IMHO

Mesa is throwing darts on a board man. We all know that's what they are doing. Does it make them a crappy airline worthy of scorn? No. Some bean counter figured that x amount of gross newhires = x amount of net pilots and believe me, they've done the math concerning the attrition. It's a business decision not reflective upon the pilot group. My guess is that they want to get every eligible pilot who's not in the mood to do an astronaut interview in order to get a 20K per year job to come over to their outfit and hopefully they stick around for more than a year. It's a numbers game while there are still numbers to be had.
Some regionals are holding to strict hiring standards (like Compass); good for them. My guess (unless something radically changes) is that Compass will soon join the ranks of the mirror test unless they run out of candidates who want to do a traditional interview complete with Psych eval in order to make McD's wages. Otherwise those people will go to Mesa, GoJet and the like.
We will see.

Is a current SkyWest or Horizon FO more capable than me? I think not! Where I choose to work is MY CHOICE based on what I THINK is most important. I am glad I've had a few airlines to choose from.
Good luck to all new hires who choose where they want to work. Not where they end up.

i know YOU didnt say walk away but a few others have and hopefully in a joking manner you would be completely insane to leave the industry 100 hours shy of atp mins. also isnt 135 harder training in most cases than 121?
