You have to challenge yourself to get better. If you aren't confident flying a jet at 250/3000 fpm with a plane full of families, it's going to be an easier transition flying a twin piston in real IMC doing 180/1000fpm. Some people can't make the leap from flying a c-172 to a full type in a jet and that's FINE. Don't set yourself up for failure. Get some IFR stick time in a twin. Scare yourself a few times...the boxes don't care.

135 training usually takes place in a more "forgiving" environment such as CAE Simuflite or FlightSafety, where there is definitely an interest in seeing you pass (since YOU are the client and YOU [by proxy of your company] are paying for the training). They're not so much interested in how well you can run the prescribed script, but in your decision making skills and how well you fly the plane. So in that respect, yes that would be a challenge for someone who doesn't have the experience with decision making under stressful conditions.

I couldn't agree more. I studied my ass off for an interview at SkyWest and Horizon. I spent over $1000 to train in a Frasca 142. And for what? A free flight to Portland or Salt Lake? A tough interview with no guarantee of an offer for a class date that will be in October? Then I come to realize that I want to upgrade in less than 7-11 years. Why sit right seat for that long?
Is a current SkyWest or Horizon FO more capable than me? I think not! Where I choose to work is MY CHOICE based on what I THINK is most important. I am glad I've had a few airlines to choose from.
Good luck to all new hires who choose where they want to work. Not where they end up.
