Food for thought, getting to mainline is getting harder an harder as regionals vote in concessions to fly larger aircraft. United is parking 757s, American is ordering 175s and more 900s, Delta is looking for carriers that fly 175s. Why??? Because we're cheap labor!!! You'll fly the same routes compared to mainline for 1/4 of the cost!! wake up, do some research. Retirements will spur hiring but hell, at this rate mainline can furlough their guys have them rehired and PSA or Mesa and staff those RJs that are flying ALL domestic flights. All while mainline focuses it's fleet on International flying. Get a clue
Could the regionals grow while the majors shrink
Then I was summarily dismissed.

Also has anyone been called lately for an interview? I have an ATP with right around 1000 hrs turbine multi SIC and no violations/accidents/dwi's etc. I applied a week or so ago on Airlineapps and haven't heard anything. I am assuming they just slowed down for the holidays but I just wanted to check if anyone knows more about this.

I bet not, just because lets say, current CRJ Capt bids EMJ = training event at Flight Safety= $.
Now, current FO is upgraded to fill his empty CRJ seat = training event = $
or
Only current FOs can upgrade to EMJ CA = 1 training event instead of 2 which equals less money to be spent by the company

Exactly what I asked about by starting this post:

Expressjet has what 500 50 seaters, What about Skywest?
PSA? Republic? Air Wisky? Lots of news of large RJ orders but don't forget all these 50 seaters that are on their way out....

There are going to be a TON of 50 seaters parked over the next 5-10 years. Yeah mainline is ordering a lot of large RJs but I really bet it will still be a wash or possibly less Regional Aircraft flying around.

That means everybody on average will see a loss of airframes equal to 50% of their 50-seat inventory.
Some may do better, some may do worse, but that's probably an accurate number across the industry. There will be a few niche markets where 50-seaters will linger
The only way to do better than that is growth (little if any expected), or taking flying from other regionals. I suspect the PCL and PSA situations will be the trend-setters for the next decade.

I ran into the current class at Mesa and well the night before the smell of alcohol was pouring into the lobby. Lets just say it didn't look good at 9PM for a 7AM start the next day.

I've heard so many different answers for this question who knows.

Ah, I remember the first days of groundschool, they were fun. I don't think this is a big deal. As long as they're not showing up to the sim or a flight early the next day. ALPA took our whole groundschool class out one night. Lets just say the bar tab was several thousand and we all had class the next day, argh it was rough. ALPA money, finally well spent.

The trick is past practice and what the company is willing to do. Consider the 145's when we had them. They were only 50 seat. Correct me if I'm wrong, but CRJ CA's were unable to bid 145, but 145 CA could bid CRJ. The CRJ was considered higher paying equipment. The company will seek cost savings with bidding aircraft so I'm guessing CRJ CA's will not be able to bid 175 just as explained above due to number of training events.
There is a GIR however since the company believes they can pay vacation and rsv at 50 seat rates when a pilot is based on the mainland where 50 seaters do not exist. As I've heard, they can't have their cake and eat it too. They will have to cave on something, but right now it's hard telling what/where. Stay tuned.....
