We have the CRJ and EJET on cert now. No 50 seaters to shed. JO's emails hint to the sky being the limit for new flying. I'm sure these first 30 175s are only the tip of the iceberg for 175 flying

Someone once asked a well known regional airline CEO what they thought would happen to Mesa back in 2010. (When all the dashs 200s and 145s were being parked) It was a general consensus in the room Mesa was done.

The CEO said "Mesa would be back and bigger than ever, and JO would be out for blood."

"Sky being the limit for new flying", so long as JO can keep you guys cheerleading to get new suckers to come work there..., and so long as he can keep your pay and benefits at the bottom of the regional barrel!

It's how the cookie crumbles, get in, get the PIC and get out. Sorry but its happening, get on board, or get left on the sidelines. I'm not saying it's right, I'm saying it's how this industry works.

Why on earth would JO, the cheapest man in the industry want to absorb another pilot group.

No, he doesn't want some 15 year AE Captain, he wants a 2 year YV CA sitting next to a 1 year YV FO flying his metal. It doesn't get any cheaper than that.

If your still not following, let me break this down. If we merge, he absorbs the seniority of whichever group is merged with Mesa. That is much higher labor cost than a complete Mesa new hire FOs, and newly upgraded captains.
I didn't say I thought it was a good idea just that I heard the rumor. Mergers at the regional level are rarely if ever a good thing.

Don't you think it's a wee bit hypocritical to blast pilots for not knowing as much as they think they do and then in your very next post be making such cocksure statements?

If a sale/merger contains additional incentives the "simple math" can get very complicated.

Good because what I heard I didn't like. I think we'll keep this filed under the 'wild rumor' category no need to get feathers ruffled over it.

You know, JO also said some very interesting things on how he knows his pilots are paid too much and why he even has flight attendants in the first place. ..

Slightly off top question. Is there some sort of rule where an employee who comes up with a cost-saving measure gets some percentage of the money saved?

I've been told our paper weight and balances were created by an exceptionally sharp employee, and he gets some percentage of the money they've saved now. Kind of neat if it's true.

Default Logbooks

If I've been only updating my online logbook for awhile, do I need to get my paper one up to date for the sim portion of training? How does that work in terms of logging it for the ATP?

DL/UA can't add any more 175 flying, they are maxed out on scope. So, unless AA plans on sending 175 to Mesa, there's no iceberg to be seen.

What is your question? Logging simulator time for the ATP?
