Do people with only 121 turboprop time struggle with the training? That's where I'm coming from. What kind of people are struggling/washing out?

Former Dash driver here. If you just pay attention in class, you'll pass. The sim wasn't that hard either.

If you can't get it by 50 or so hours that's a huge problem. I can't believe they're releasing people to the line that took that much.

Of the people who struggle, I heard a good chunk have English-as-a-second language difficulties. Understandable. Our class has about 6 or 7 CFI new-hires, myself included. No turbine background at all, we're doing fine. No reason a Dash 8 pilot can't hack it.

I've heard quite a bit of accents on the radio most have been fine but ya that another issue having ESL folks in the cockpit if they're not very fluent.

What's the deal with this? One would assume that if they can pass an ATP-PIC Type ride they would be able to fly the airplane, right? I mean is there something particularly difficult about line flying that isn't seen in simulator training? (genuine question from a soon to be FNG)
