Yep, oversensitive...

I would not be full of *****, the person in the training dept who told me this would be...

They have been pretty accurate in the past...

I agree with you, however, Mesa is the one who needs to understand it, I have no control. Call me names, tell me I am wrong, whatever, but I am just the messenger... Maybe you should call standing bids/crew planning and have a talk with them and they will rethink the whole thing... I wish it was that simple.

Hiring might be stopping for a bit, but the upgrades to the E-jet should continue. Street hire captains are still a possibility as they run out of eligible FO's to upgrade. However, we seem to be hiring a lot of previous 121 guys so I think street hire captains might not be needed. Who knows...

CRJ will never stop hiring, as long as CRJ guys bid over to EJET captain and guys attrition out. It might slow for a month or two of upgrades but it won't really stop for FO's.

Overall it really means more guys will have shots at EJET slots for the next few months. If they want it..

Lots of upgrades happening. (Most junior CRJ CA is a 2013 hire) Tons of hiring to finish staffing the 10 more CRJ900s that came online this summer and fall. Hiring for E175s that continue to arrive into 2016. E175 CA upgrades should touch 2013 hires next award (December upgrade classes)

This is not the Mesa of 2010 or 2008 for that matter.

Great training department, good CPs who are here to help.

CNX pay... block or better...

DFW- CRJ9 AA
PHX- CRJ9 AA
IAD- CRJ7 UA
IAH- E175 UA

IPAD EFB. (big deal if you're coming from an airline with paper charts, makes life much easier)

Longest contract extensions with mainline partners of all the regionals. 2019 for UA and 2021 for AA. (May have those reversed) No 50 seaters left, they were all shed during bankruptcy. Fleet of on demand 70-79 seat aircraft.

Lots of guys out there who were furloughed or quit Mesa 07-11 out there. From what I've heard this place SUCKED back then. They're the ones still spewing the hate.

I don't blame them, I'll probably be spewing hate about RAH well into the 2030's.......
This post makes me feel a WHOLE lot better about the decision I have made.
I worked at Mesa from 2000-2008. I was a Captain on the CRJ in IAD when I got fed up and left.( Bad Decision using 20/20 hindsight.) I start back at Mesa on October 30 on the CRJ- and I'm excited about being back in the 121 game.
Sounds like I may be going back to Dulles for a while but hoping for either Dallas or Phoenix- being a West Coaster. Seeing as how I might be in Dulles, I'm glad I treated all my F/O's well!! LOL.
Any idea from a CURRENT Mesa pilot on how long to a possible Upgrade opportunity???
Thanks..

For pilots hired today, that's a toughy. There are some predictions that a whole slew of FOs they hired since 2013 are not eligible for upgrade yet, but that remains to be seen. All the captains needed for currently announced growth are already on property and have been since early to middle summer. Rampant rumors of more airplanes coming but again, that remains to be seen. Although the junior CA is a 4/13 hire, they've hired 300 pilots since him. The longer the ineligible FOs are on property, the closer they get to being eligible. Most of the pilots hired into the EJET are prior 121 so most of them are eligible right now and are just waiting for seniority.

Increased attrition and/or more airplanes would obviously improve the chances of a quick upgrade quite a bit.

If you've got your 121 time, get your CA recs (if you even need them having been a CA before) and bid CA out of training I don't know why you couldn't. You might get awarded quickly. You want the C or E? You can bid either I would guess. Most JR CA now are 2013 hires, several of them.
Welcome back!

Why would anyone want to start all over again? And at PSA of all places.

Provided that the announced aircraft actually show up, anyone starting at PSA before November would upgrade in under one year if they had prior 121 experience. This would be under a much better contract than Mesa's, while also allowing one to remain in Charlotte.

If you were a CA previously at Mesa, then left, you don't need to get recommendations again. Just fill out the upgrade questionnaire and wait for your number to be called. My guess is that if you are starting from zero right now it will be around 2 years until you upgrade...but as you know, this is such a dynamic industry that could go down or up tomorrow. Welcome back.
