The "they never really taught us the RSV rules" usually works, because well it's the truth.

If I hadn't been at a prior airline I would have been lost on the line at Mesa the first year, especially on reserve.
No show for it and if anyone calls, say that some bro on APC calling himself "prior121" swore to you that it was perfectly ok to skip deadheads.

I've heard on United you can actually cancel them the same way you would a reservation on Skynet. Only problem is that 1 in 100 chance they call you after the deadheads. No idea if that can be done on Airways/American.

New-ish sounds right-ish. I'm hoping to advance to been-around-a-little-ish soon.

I know it's been asked before, but where are you Mesa folk staying in IAD if you have to get a hotel? Man I should buy an apartment near IAD and AirBnB it to Mesa people.

Biggest risk is skipping DHDs on company metal, b/c Mesa DHDs do show up on the crewlist in FT Web/CrewWeb, and some "company men" Captains will call CrewTracking and be like "so and so hasn't checked in wahhhhh punish them."

Altitude Pads is one option for a crashpad in IAD if you might be there with some degree of regularity but won't be there long enough to justify an apartment. They contract with a few airport hotels and stick bunk beds in hotel rooms, so you get the benefit of clean sheets, hotel shuttle, and continental breakfast. Of course, the other roommates on a given night can make or break it.

$150 for 4 nights a month, $250 for 8 nights, $350 for 16 nights. If you go over your plan, just $25 each additional night. They also do direct withdrawal from your bank account, some people aren't comfortable with that. But they were professional and legitimate in my experience.

Otherwise, the cheapest crew rate for a night in Dulles is around $54 I think. Someone else might be able to elaborate on that.

Thanks for the tip.

sleep in the airport. Cheapest option. Shower in the bathroom until you get an overnight.

All depends on the veracity prior121's rumored growth. If there is no more flying, there probably won't be any upgrades anytime soon after the ejets are fully staffed, minus attrition (not a lot right now). If we get more flying, which is consistent with the rumormill, then upgrades will be 12-18months, or whenever you get 1000 hours. I know someone who knows someone who told me that's a scientific fact. Trying to figure out where the quick upgrade will be right now is not a wise choice. Lots of uncertainty with the shakeout of aa/us merger, potential added UA or DL flying, etc. short answer: who the hell knows.
