As a line holder, a pilot can drop all his flying in one base and pick up in another base.

I.e. I got so tired of winter last year I dropped all my IAD flying and picked up all PHX with a lot of Mexico flying.

When dropped, it goes to trade board and someone else needs to pick it up before you're relieved from it? Can you also drop substantial parts of your schedule and not pick anything else up in another base to replace it?

No. If you have the reserve coverage over buffer to drop a trip or a part of it, it just goes into open time. If someone else picks it up, that's great, but you are relieved from your duty if the drop is approved. On the other hand, if you put a trip up on the trade board, you are still on the hook for it until someone picks it up. If no one does, you still have to fly that trip. With the way they have been setting the reserve buffers so high the last few months, its next to impossible to drop anything. Pretty much guarantees sick calls from people.

Just got my offer letter for a Feb 5th class. Does anybody have or mind sharing limitations and memory items so I can get a head start.

Want to violate company policy and the GOM before you even start? Cool story. Ask blackwing...I think it was he who got some stuff ahead of time before he started.

Ok let me clarify...not interested in company material that I do not have. Looking for material that I can obtain or buy freely to get a head start. Does mesa send a training packet before class?

They don't send anything no matter how much you hound them to. Some people bought crj sim apps and stuff. Not needed though.
