I don't think as professionals this kind of stuff should be openly discussed on public forums.

I agree completely. This should not be discussed in the open and I apologize for throwing you newbies under the bus like that. I just think before the "under two year upgrade fanatical ism" gets thrown around and discussed. You guys and gals should be patient and get the skill and experience before you jump to the left seat. It will come with time, it's a big jump over to a jet for some and there is a lot to learn.

Oh you so wise old grass hopper.

Because you know none of us came with hundreds or thousands of hours in EJET products or MD80s flying in Africa.

All your posts say is "I'm butthurt that I've had to be an 8 year F/O and these new guys will upgrade in 2 years or less."

2 years flying 800 to 900 hours each year as an FO in a 900 or 175. Thats ~1700 TJET SIC hours in a glass jet. Thats one hell of a good long learning curve. Plus CA training, which by the way, is a different ball of wax in terms of who they will pass. There isnt gong to be any talent crisis in the left seat over here.

Any military guys on here care to share how many years and hours you have to fly as FO in a two pilot advanced jet before you are allowed to be aircraft commander?

Kinda what I'm getting too.

Cheer up Skillett, you'll be upgrading in a few months if you haven't already, and then you can take these new guys to school.

Make 'em earn it!

I guess I don't see what was so inflammatory about his post. New hires are about to be (likely) humbled. This may be a good heads up for folks to take all their flight training and hour building seriously.

A certain poster here was looking to go from flight instructing to the regionals. His signature was something like "needing ATP mins to find an airport with an FMS." I think some folks have overly simplified view of 121 flying or maybe the wrong attitude going in.

And by the way, if that poster is still around, I don't wish any ill will, and hope you have been able to move on.

I'm not jealous of a two year upgrade. I upgraded in two months, got over 3500 121 PIC. If your a sharp pilot then all the power to you, I think it's great. Hopefully I will be long gone before then and won't have time to post because I will be chilling on my sail boat in St. John on my days off. Or being able to afford dinner and drinks on my overnights instead of a sack lunch and a Bud Light, posting on APC because I'm bored off my ass.

Yes this is true but Mesa is not exactly the military. Air Force academy and such has a pretty high washout rate because they can. If you don't have it they will find out real quick. But I have even heard some slip through the cracks there as well. So I guess I could be wrong. But your right, two years should be plenty of time to get skilled in the aircraft. Like I said you either have or you need alot more practice.

Don't bring up butt hurt again. I was brutally raped in prison. I was in the Riker's Island pilot program. With guaranteed right seat employment at Mesa Airlines after paroled release. Hehe

Anyway that last post of mine was harsh. I think I will back out of this discussion because I really don't have anything to ***** about. My life is not to shabby. I will be in the left seat again soon as well, or somewhere else. Both pay better than what I make now. So life is good. Any way good luck to all of you. And don't reply with anymore pop shots because I'm sick of posting.

Classy way to have the last word. You're wrong though - I am as critical of Mesa as anyone you'll ever meet. My posts have praised the climate we find ourselves in now, our training department, the crews, the CPs, and that's all. And I'm sure you'd agree with all of that.

After being in the dull-drums for a long many years, I hope you, myself, and even new guys can benefit from the upswing - that is all I'm trying to say in my posts.

I'm kind of a numbers guy, so I like to have fun crunching them...

At least after you mouth off, you always come back seeking an element of forgiveness. Did you notice that? LOL? You're really kind of adorable in that sense Skillett -Kind of like my 6 year old.
