Be lucky that you're only going to be a regional FO for 12 months.

But, g*ddamn, show some humility. Some of us who have been regional FO's for 3, 4, 5+ years.

Seconded. Heard an FO in the crew room the other day asking a couple captains how to bid captain and whether he should bid EJet or CRJ. Basically just going on about "enough hours", "fast upgrade", etc. Had to cringe.

You talking passenger announcements? If so, yes they do. Before takeoff and initial descent if they are the PM.

So don't be happy about the chance to move up.....? Only complain. Btw the industry made your upgrade time suck not the newer pilot who still enjoys his job and may get a faster upgrade. Both scenarios are no ones fault so why be mad at opportunity?

Honest question Cherokee:

Do you really believe you will be ready to upgrade on a 900 in 12 months? I'm not trying to be an a$$. Serious question.

If you pass the "very very forgiving" training you must be good to go.

Right?.........

And you should cringe. And what RB211 said also...

This sense of entitlement to be a captain is scary. Whatever happenned to years as a first officer before becoming the captain of a large jet airliner? I know the pay sucks but thats the real problem....not the upgrade time.

The real weird thing is that you become a captain of one large jet only to use that experience to get a job as an FO in another large jet and then sit there for years again. Sit back and think about the insanity of this system.
