That's a big question a lot of people have been asking. I think SkyWest's contract is up or will be soon, and word on the street is they're not pushing too hard to get it renewed. They took the contract at a loss when they were awarded it, and I've been told by friends over there they have better/more profitable places to put those airplanes now.
However, many of those routes are too small for a 900 to operate cost effectively. Think Yuma and Flagstaff. As a result, I've been told Mesa is pursuing other contracts elsewhere more aggressively. It'd be great if Phoenix could expand and go more junior, especially on the Captain side, but we'll see.
