Are there referral fees if we recommend an applicant at Mesa?

Mesa flight was delayed in Montreal this morning by five hours because (they're saying) one pilot's medical expired March 31 and he wasn't legal to work the return flight this morning. They had to deadhead someone in to work the flight for him. Sucks for all involved but just curious how that happens and first responsibility is the crew member of course but the company doesn't have an alerting system on crew member certificate dates?

so the company knew that the pilots qualifications(medical) was expiring and the pilot had not submitted a renewed medical and allowed them to continue to fly. yeap totally the pilots fault.

Maybe not five hours, but two or three is not unusual for the AA feed.
