Avoid pairings if enroute showtime <10:00

Make sure you have the correct Award/Avoid
A long time ago I accidentally requested
Award Enroute Showtimes <8:00
Was awarded 5:15 - 6:00 Showtimes the whole bid

Search the pairings first, there might not actually be any that meet such criteria

And it might be better to use "Award" over "Avoid" since the latter completely eliminates certain trips for you, which is an easy way to get stuck on reserve by accident as it might be impossible to reach the 76 hour requirement. The "Award Pairings" function basically says "give me this if you can," and if it can't it goes to the next thing.

So say for example you're an early bird and just want the earliest possible starts. You could do...

1.) Award Pairings If Enroute Check-In Time < 7:00 If Pairing Check-In Time < 7:00
2.) Award Pairings If Enroute Check-In Time < 8:00 If Pairing Check-In Time < 8:00
3.) Award Pairings If Enroute Check-In Time < 7:00
4.) Award Pairings If Enroute Check-In Time < 8:00

Or some variation like that. The general idea is to start with what you specifically want, then move on to more expanded parameters. You could make your bid really elaborate and add each successive hour later, or if you don't care much you could just use this method to say "start before noon" and call it a day.

Adding things like specific overnights will complicate it though. Remember that what comes first is what it first tries to award you.

And at the end of the day, there's always SAP.

This graphic significantly clarified PBS logic for me.

Using avoid will not put you on reserve. Not letting the software deny you avoid command (I.e. Using clear schedule start next) will.

Whenever your in doubt ASK [email protected] to check your work. They know what they're doing and can fix any mistakes you make.

Just to make sure you know, duty length is how many hours you were on the clock (sitting around, time in hotel, 3 hour wait between flights), while daily credit is how much you were paid (flying or deadheading). I always put in for high credit trips, which should give more days off with higher pay.

Yes your right on this. As long as you don't have "All or Nothing start next" for that bid group. And the next bid group is "Start Reserve". You shouldn't get a reserve line. Unless there are not enough trips left to build you a line. The computer thinks from top to bottom for your request's. It will try to give you what you want, starting with the top down. It might give you all your request's one trip. The next trip just 2. If there are no more trips that meet your request's, it will throw anything in to build you a line. One way to jump some people for a line is waive the minimum 2 days off. You might get a 2 day, one off, followed by a 4 day. But hey, your not on reserve.
