MESA LAX Flying?/NEW Base
#21
Look buddy our management told us straight up that in their estimation pilots will leave their current regionals to fly the new airplanes regardless of contract and pay and that if we didn't agree to concessions they would find someone to operate the aircraft based on that premise! So tell me again that pilots who continue to seek employment at these airlines don't play any role in continuing the race to the bottom?

Then that's their choice if they want to bail out knowing they will probably kicked to the curb no matter if they try to fight the fight and stay.
The reality of the regionals today is that mainline carriers don't want to own a regional airline. If you want to look at the history of regionals, start with Delta and their wholly owned regionals. It's all about economics these days, not about a certain pilot group and their contract and CEO.

April Airline On-Time Performance Up, Cancellations Down From Previous Year, March | Bureau of Transportation Statistics
Mesa may not rank the highest but we're definitely not the lowest. Our numbers have been pretty consistent every month.

If that's the case then why is AA kicking Eagle to the curb?..If I remember correctly AA has been wanting to unload Eagle for quite some time now just like Delta did with Comair.

There's more to an employer decision than equipment. Domicile, upgrade time, prior relationships, a myriad of factors go into picking an airline to work for. Aside from avoiding turboprops, equipment is at the bottom of that list. And since you bring up pay, have you considered pilots at these "bottom feeders" might make more money considering their Captain pay by the third year? I really didn't want to get embroiled in these petty airline battles my first day posting here, but since people insist on it...

They aren't kicking eagle to the curb! Idle threats to get concessions. It's a completely different environment than the days of comair... The days of a seemingly unlimited supply of 250 hour airline pilots is gone. Beginning this august airlines will have to cough up the expense of the training required just to take the ATP written which is estimated to be 15-20k. Consolidation and mergers at the regional level is around the corner... This is the only thing that will save us from whipsaw that we're so accustomed to. I have no problem with the original Mesa pilots who were dragged through bankruptcy and furloughed... The issue I have is with guys like the OP who are proud and excited that Mesa is growing and taking over flying at the expense of other pilots.

What happens when the music stops on the quick upgrade? What are you left with? This is managements dream to bait and switch on ignorant pilots on the promise of a quick upgrade!
