September was a long time ago--this was apparently implemented for the last two new hire classes (a.k.a. guys who are probably still in indoc/ground/sims)

^^^^This. I think it started with the 3 Dec class. And an email to a recruiter failed to produce any details, they seemed not to know about it either. Thought I DID find it disturbing to be told, "You will find out about it during Indoc". I mean, by then it's too late, if one is trying to compare companies. But ok.

Do you think it's wise to choose an employer based on an under-the-table deal that no one will even confirm or deny in writing until you're on property?

I don't think it's wise to go with any airline paying new hires a bonus. It's temporary, and a slap in the face to those who came before and never got such. I think the standard should be a percentage raise across the board, with perhaps a bump for first year FO pay to entice new hires. At least then everyone benefits, and it doesn't just end when the bonus expires. In fact, I told two different potential employers that I would either not accept their bonus, or just take it and put it in savings for the interest, then give it back with a 2-week notice to vacate (since most come with a serious time commitment). But that's just me.

Now, I think a performance or safety bonus for ALL employees is a great thing.

Performance bonus, HA! Even with the poor performance levels in past months for AA out of Dfw , the d0 is consistently 10-20% better than The UA side. Meanwhile, they get $100 every month because the bar is set so low. I don't think fair and equitable is in their playbook.

You do realize it's not the same metric right? AA is controllable D0, UA is all-inclusive D0.

Sidebar: anyone else really fed up with that ghetto chick ramp controller in DFW? For those who know who I am talking about. I probably need to write a strongly worded letter about her.

Not the smoker sounding lady, right? The younger sounding one? Can't stand her.

To be honest, I didn't.
