New Mesa Thread

I personally know one of the NC members pretty well. I have talked to them on numerous occasions about their new jobs, and I can tell you that everything they say makes me believe these guys have the best intentions. They know we need more, and they are going to fight for it. The member I know is in no way pro company or trying to set themselves up at Mesa. I was pretty hopefully when I read that email.

Being a total newbie to Mesa who's jumping ship and to where? Any majors? JB or SW, Atlas or Southern? Is Spirit or Allegiant an option? If I was younger I'd jump to PSA looks like it's moving, better contract, WO for commuting, and their flow might take 10-15 years, but at least it's a long range plan for a 20yo.
I hope we can unite at Mesa get a better Qol contract, if not recruiters will continue extend their reach to a work force with a work for free mentality, while better pilots will go elsewhere. Attrition and low successful recruiting is not good. As the majors begin to dip to the regionals, hopefully the Qol will improve. The subtle incentives for new hires is undermining the rest if the younger pilot force who have been grinding it out, better incentives for all is required.

However- Given Mesa's history of being the lowest paid pilots and work rules. The statement doesn't contradict. Look what the CO tired to push through... Mesa will drag this out till the final day possible

Having said that, the NC works under the direction of the MEC reps. While the officers have shuffled around a little, the people casting the votes remain largely the same. So we'll see if we get something different or a similar result.

I know. I am also contemplating leaving sooner rather than later. I already have an exit plan but I am now evaluating whether is it even worth it to hang out long enough to execute that plan.
I'm afraid that even when (IF) Mesa does make the necessary improvements to keep the business alive, it will be the bare minimum and it will be too little, too late. Great Lakes style. Republic style. Although Republic made vast improvements, they are still in a heap of trouble and may not be able to recover. Too little, too late. And frankly, I don't see Mesa stepping up and making the magnitude of improvements Republic made. I hope I am wrong on this. I hope they step up and make Mesa a good place to be for pilots. And I hope they do it soon.
So, like you and many others, I'm looking at making the leap sooner rather than later too. I think the bigger risk is sticking around too long and losing valuable time that we could be making a viable living elsewhere, moving quickly toward PIC time, and moving on.
The way I'm looking at it now, is if I leave and pretty much double my income immediately, go to a place that is growing, and am looking at a pretty quick upgrade (upgrade time are coming down everywhere), what have I lost? Nothing.

I'm tempted to stay and just suck up the crap pay, and hope to go to one of those such as Atlas or Spirit or Allegiant, as opposed to a lateral move, but I'm also afraid of not getting offers from any place and having no choice but to suck it up longer than I'd like, or make a lateral move.
Getting an upgrade would help the financial situation, but some are saying the "quick" upgrade ship has sailed.

I think the "quick upgrade" will still be here for anyone hired in 2014, +/- a few months. After that, hopefully attrition picks up from the CA ranks. Even if it increases, I doubt it would go above 2.5 or 3 years barring an inability to staff.

How long had they been at Mesa?

Let's see...off the top of my head the one guy who went to United had been here 8 years, the other one 2 years or so, both Captains. The guy who went to Allegiant was a Captain who was here around 2 years. The FO who went to Skywest was here around 15 months. The FO who went to BA was here about 7-8 months IIRC. The FO who went to Atlas was here around 18 months.
