I've heard this many times and it confuses me. Since Mesa meets the requirements of offering an "affordable" plan, none of us qualify for the tax credit or savings. As a result you have to pay full price for the plans. When I looked at the offerings in my home state, Mesa's plans beat them all on coverage vs price. Are full price plans a lot cheaper than Mesa's insurance in a lot of states?

To whom do we address our written resignation notice? CP? HR?

I would assume you're good with one email to both those and maybe include your regional chief. And save the email and response for your own records.

I had a silver plan with Obamacare last year it was pretty good. The high end Mesa insurance plans were more than double what I was paying. Right now Im with Mesa and did the higher end value plan which works for me since I didn't use my insurance at all last year. I think Im paying 120 a month. This isn't an insurance to pick if you have a family or health issues.

Last question. It says you guys are ALPA. How is it that they can't negotiate something more in line with other contract carriers for more reasonable premiums? ASA probably has the largest employee contribution and that is 30%.

Our last TA was a perfect example of Mesa's unwillingness to negotiate better compensation and benefits for their pilots. They just flat out will not do it until they absolutely have to, which they have the right to do. It's not great for labor relations or recruiting but it's their right nonetheless.

If you dont qualify for a subsidy for the ACA, then the employee only plan is almost always going to be cheaper. It is being subsidized by Mesa which is why I said when it comes to adding family members, the company has no obligation to meet any criteria for them. Mesa can charge whatever they want for family members but as for the direct employee, Mesa must meet the "minimum value standard".

Does My Employer Group Health Plan Meet Healthcare Reform's Minimum Value Requirements?

Because in order to undercut competition, you can't have nice things (such as decent wages, good healthcare, and other contract goodies). If healthcare were to improve, operational costs would go up. Mesa wouldn't be able to offer their crap product at such low prices.

Well I dont know that our product is exactly crap... I mean, we do a pretty good job with on time performance and seem to stay out of the news for thee most part. No more issues here than with anywhere else.
