Our last TA was a perfect example of Mesa's unwillingness to negotiate better compensation and benefits for their pilots. They just flat out will not do it until they absolutely have to, which they have the right to do. It's not great for labor relations or recruiting but it's their right nonetheless.

Are full price plans a lot cheaper than Mesa's insurance in a lot of states?
If you dont qualify for a subsidy for the ACA, then the employee only plan is almost always going to be cheaper. It is being subsidized by Mesa which is why I said when it comes to adding family members, the company has no obligation to meet any criteria for them. Mesa can charge whatever they want for family members but as for the direct employee, Mesa must meet the "minimum value standard".

Because in order to undercut competition, you can't have nice things (such as decent wages, good healthcare, and other contract goodies). If healthcare were to improve, operational costs would go up. Mesa wouldn't be able to offer their crap product at such low prices.

Well I dont know that our product is exactly crap... I mean, we do a pretty good job with on time performance and seem to stay out of the news for thee most part. No more issues here than with anywhere else.

I understand all that, but when I shop for family plans, Mesa's still comes out cheaper than going to obamacare, since we don't qualify for subsidies.

Not really...it means I'm spending more for health insurance than most other people, and it's supposed to be reasonable around here.

Yeah, not a good discusion for this forum but there is certainly is a much larger discussion to be had on this. As for Mesa... we all know as long as they fill classes, we really cant expect much to change.

Time will tell tell tell tell

The classes are full because there is no interview. Lets be honest interviews suck, you are being judged, scrutinized, tested, and humbled. My class was full of older guys, I was shocked one of them I talked too said he felt stupid being interviewed for a FO position with his credentials. I totally get it.
There are ZERO obstacles to coming here presented by the company, if you want to come, come.

As for the insurance, its awful, i used to sell life and health, the low premium doesnt cover anything but doc visits and the high end is cost prohibitive. Look elsewhere for insurance.

my last paycheck was $400

How in the world is it possible they pay that little? I had a friend of mine upgrade over there and he was telling me he made less than my FO pay and I thought he was lying.
