Single digit reserve is normal in IAD, it's green between 6-8. Remember, we only have 20 airplanes based here.

It is a pain being in the red, though. It sucks not to be able to drop anything.

Granted, the problem with the 175 is the bottleneck in training at the sim these days. However, attrition is picking up drastically on the FO side and even on the captain side too.
Yep, I've moved up about 75 spots since this summer. I'm pretty junior on the FO side.

Yes IAD only posted 4 reserve fo for March but also had like 20 hours of open time for the month. Take a look at the last standing bid. Basically all new cry pilots going to there. Also standard Mesa they staff reactionary not proactive. Plenty of reserves in Dfw and Phx so we're not falling off the fo wagon just don't have them in the right spots.

Very much a reactive company. When staffing woes really begin to pick up, JO will just point out that its the useless regulations. He has nothing to do with their problems with staffing. The pay and benefits are not the problem at all .

Also it invites speculation and anger.."why haven't we heard anything yet??" type questions. I've seen it on paper in official form...the DFW Chief Pilot's office (Envoy) received the notice first in December 2015. Not sure how the FA's Union got hold of it, but they sent out an official Union email informing them of Mesa's departure in 2017.

So don't take my word for it. But if being DFW based is your ultimate goal I wouldn't go to Mesa right now. For NUMEROUS reasons that go beyond the DFW base, but that is just another reason.
First I've heard of this but I don't put much stock in what the Envoy head cheerleader has to say.

Yeah...exactly the reaction I knew it would get...which is why I've been sitting on this information quietly since December. But again, don't take my word for it. Don't believe it all, in fact. Makes no difference...I'm not the one who makes these decisions. Shoot the messenger if it helps make you feel better.

Are you DFW based? Go up to an Envoy FA and ask him/her about it. Their Union sent out an official comm about it in January. Not sure why, but they did.

I'll bring the conversation over here too.

A lot of Mesa guys would love that since Phoenix has been our historical base, and DFW Eagle's. Kind of a "all is right with the world" switch, except mainline has intentionally diversified the regionals in each base so they can't Comair or have an RAH-like staffing crisis and singlehandedly kill performance metrics. Nice if true, but won't hold my breath. Last question: have you heard anything about when this would purportedly go public?

I haven't, sorry. The 40th Envoy E175 is supposed to be delivered early/mid 2017. If I were to connect the dots I would assume that Mesa would be in PHX around that time...so expect an official announcement shortly before that...3 months prior seems to be the industry standard for these types of things.

But again, I don't know exactly.

Any chance of putting up the eagle FA email concerning the move on here so we could see the specifics?
