I think no airline is perfect, there are ones better than others, but at the end of the day all regionals are stepping stones to go to a main line.
People complaining about QOL seem like they want to retire from a regional and if that’s the case is a respectable choice but not my case or others I know. I used to work for a regional with “good QOL” and we were fired because we were expensive. So what’s the point on having the best health insurance or pay of you are going to be left without a job or placed in the farthest base from home.

If the market turns, the same thing will happen to the regionals that are currently expensive. But until that happens, there is no issue with trying to make the most you can in the time that you can. This current wave can last for a decade, or it could end next month. Why give up 10 years of great pay and career advancement?

[QUOTE=calmwinds;2440668]Outside of the interview, my experience has been completely different. We don't sit on reserve for months on end, like SkyWest or Envoy. My buddy at SkyWest is ready to quit because he is bored sitting in a crashpad.
Except for a few as$holes, the people are pleasant to work with. If you can figure out PBS, you can get a decent line. My current line had 14 days off this month. You can pick up extra flying at 300%, meaning you can earn more than SkyWest or Envoy doing what you love to do: fly.
The training department, particularly when you get to the sims was top notch. The IOE instructors were top notch.
The only drawback, which doesn't affect me, is the health insurance.
So, obviously, you have never worked here and don't have a clue. And, if you do work here, then you are one of the as$holes I was talking about.[/QUOTE
Well most of what you said us correct except the part about the schedules. I'm going to assume you are NOT IAD based. The Fos get nothing what we want. I know how to bid my schedule and have not been able to get what I want because of Pre-awards and unstacking. We are short staff and no end in sight. For all the guys looking to come here and get time and find that appealing wait till your in month 6-7 still flying 90+ hours a month and can't move on to the next level. If your getting what you want good for you. I was OK the first year and half but these last 7 months are AWFUL

Yeah, I wouldn't want to work on the CRJ anywhere. Everyone is short CRJ pilots.

It appears the 300% flying dried up on the Ejet. I saw 3 FO's in the crew room on reserve twiddling their thumbs. What happened? Did our flying decrease? Is the increased pay rate causing people to work their pairings rather than call in sick? Do we have that many more pilots coming out of training? Or, is it just early in the month and not enough people have quit yet? I haven't figured it out.

58% of mesa’s pilots got EXACTLY the contract they deserve... and unlike Endeavor, we get no upward pay adjustments for the next 4 years.

Meanwhile, the pilots at SkyWest complain as well. JO doesn't think any of us are going to be here in 4 years to worry about upward pay adjustments. He thinks we are here to get our time and move on. We are simply transitory employees.
