Mesa hotels were awful in the mid 2000’s. I shutter to think what they are like today.

Another take would be they want to fan the flying out so it’s easier to cover a disruption during a draw down of flying.. there is some super complicated dealings going on behind the scenes. Mesa is out of contract for 4 days now. There was a big shakeup in UA Express leadership causing RFP delays.. advantage Mesa they have the old UAX President now.. disadvantage. They have Compass wanting in to undercut them..

YXs market planning is out for November as well, which doubles the UA daily departures out of IAD compared to October. So it appears like there’s definitely some shuffling of the UAX flying going on since YX hasn’t operated out of IAD since the S5 days.

No. This whole 175 base in iad thing has got to stop. Just cuz an airplane flies out of a hub doesn’t mean they’ll have a base. 145 use to live in pit and Phl ALOT. Base was clt and never changed from being clt.

Nevertheless they keep sending E175 pilots to sit reserve in Dulles when we don’t even have a base there.

Now that is a different discussion (and problem). But that also doesn't mean that a base is coming. 175's have been going to IAD for a couple of years now. Rumor of a base since day 1. Still no base.

A Captain was explaining to me that, everyone in IAD would have to be given a chance to move equipments and that currently we don’t have the infrastructure to endure such endeavor. This captain also explained that there’s a loophole around it that implies 180 days of wait and taking off the 700’s out of Dulles temporarily... and there is when he lost me. I have the feeling that part has something to do with what’s happening with the 700’s and IAH
If they are co-based and there’s a reduction in the 700s, then any pilot displaced in Dulles can bid over to the ejet.

If things being the way they are right now....the 700s leave Dulles, if a new base forms there within 180 days, then the displaced pilots can bid back onto the new equipment there. After 180 days, displacement rights end.

I was sent there to sit short call reserve last week. Myself (Ejet FO), a CA and two FA’s. The CA told me that supposedly we have one or two Ejet as spares there. Any truth to that?

Excuse my confusion (not that it matters) but am I understanding that a pilot cannot bid across fleets when there is a vacancy?

FOs can not but can upgrade into a different type. Only 1 percent of Captains can bid over which equals 13 a year.
