Of course. I’m thinking about when contract time comes around again. Guys that are just ticking off bucket list items can’t necessarily be expected to vote in the best interest of the pilot group.

I think the bigger problem is the people who plan on being gone shortly. Where else was a contract signed where the FO pay actually decreases after a couple of years? I know the company decided to not do that, and to have allowed that initially is just asinine.

The average American salary is 56k a year, most of us make at least that. I've worked for numerous companies that that made us provide our own hotels and transportation on the road. Add in the flight benefits, incalculable thousands of extra compensation. All things considered you new guys got nothing to complain about IMO

I couldn’t agree more.

Attitudes like yours are what we don’t need here. You cannot be greedy and expect a company to give you everything you want. Be thankful for what you have, and if you’re not you know where the door is. At the end of the day everyone has their best interest in mind.

I’m far from greedy, and don’t expect everything I want from the company. I have to say that, all things considered, I’ve been pretty happy at Mesa. I knew what I was getting into when I got here, and to be honest Mesa has exceeded my expectations.
The thing that concerns me is this “This is so cool, I’d fly for free” attitude. We all like to fly, and I understand this attitude from new hires, but it’s not good for a pilot group in the long run. At the end of the day it really is a job. Just one pilots opinion.

that’s exactly my point. In regards to our jobs we cannot afford to have individual opinions. Mesa is a family and we stick together. Not only the pilots but everyone from the interns to corporate. Think about how much everyone else sacrifices first, before thinking about how badly you have it. We’re only as strong as our weakest employees. Sadly this forum makes it easy to see who those people are

Yes you can make 56k a year if you sell your soul to the company. Actual first and second year salary is under 35k. Name one airline, part 135 or respectable part 91 operation that makes you pay for hotels? I will wait... even entry level survey companies give you a per diem.
