For someone just starting out? I recommend Envoy. In fact I had a friend that called me to ask me about Mesa. I recommended Envoy to him.
It's a little more than $8 /hour when you factor in the new hire bonuses and the retention bonuses. Not to mention flow, steady movement, low reserve time (PSA), growing fleet, profit sharing, decent and affordable health insurance, best travel benefits in the industry for a regional. You'll make more as an FO at PSA or Envoy than you would as a Jr Captain at Mesa. Again, I'm not even trying to sell an AAG WO, there are a lot of good options out there right now. I just can't see how you guys stick around for the low pay there...

You know why? All the horror stories from you guys about your airlines. PSA training ran by former Comair people that are hostile and fail happy. Envoy training and recruitment is also hostile. Perhaps not true anymore, but those stories stick around, deserved or undeserved. People at Mesa know what they have, moving to the unknown needs to have a really big payoff.

BINGO! You nailed it!

Also all the *****ing about the schedules, the reserve time, the shrinking bases (Envoy used to have 7 bases now only 2.) And let's talk about the flow. AMR and now AAG have used the flow carrot for over 15 years. Now they're advertising 2.5 year upgrades and 6 year flow. Guys that were in my class in 2010 are just now able to hold CA so I know the 2.5 upgrade is bogus. I just don't trust AAG at the regional level. And PSA has the reputation of just what iFlyRC said. Crusty ****ed of ComAir guys that take their frustration out on new hires.

Also I will not commute for a regional and at the time Mesa was my only option for DFW. I had an interview scheduled at envoy about 6 months before Mesa and they told me I would be based in ORD. Nope!

Been at PSA 2 years and I've never ONCE encountered or even heard of anything your talking about. All of the ex-ComAir people I've worked with in training/sims/flying the line have been nothing but professional. There's bad stuff out there about every regional. I'm starting to think Mesa pilots have Stockholm syndrome.

I'm sure Skyvector is going to roast me like she has done to others.
I can't speak for Envoy, but my schedule here at PSA is great. Next month I'm off 18 days, home 21 nights, and crediting 65 hours of pay. Using my travel privileges and the SAP to take a week off and do some backpacking. I can credit 100 hours with 11-12 days off or 65-75 with 18 days off. I get whatever days off that I want. Yeah, these terrible schedules here at PSA...

No more wise a$$ than you painting a whole entire group of pilots with as broad a brush as you could find and spreading ludicrous rumors. And to what end? You could of said something to the effect of, "well a lot of Mesa pilots don't want to commute to an east coast base". But you decided to say something with no basis in fact. Good luck to you. I hope you find whatever it is you're looking for at Mesa.

You can rationalize your choice to come to Mesa any which way you want--the fact of the matter is this: someone who instead chose to go to Envoy when you chose to come to Mesa, and who bucked up and commuted to ORD for Envoy for 3 months, by now is a DFW lineholder for Envoy, with a comparable upgrade time, a boatload more career earnings expectation, better health insurance & travel benefits, and he or she will also be sitting in the left seat of a widebody well before you ever touch one.

You guys seem afraid of training events at PSA/Envoy--are you unsure of your capabilities or what? Lol.

AA wasn't committed to the flow back in the great stagnation. It sure as heck looks like they're committed to it now. The bitter 10-year flows/upgrades back in the day aren't bitter now that they're at AA--trust me I've talked to plenty of them on my commute.

You're right. A classic case of the pot calling the kettle black. I'm the pot.

What I meant to say was the reputation of PSA training department. I realize I did not say that. That's where the reputation is. Not the entire pilot group.

Are you sure that folks are holding a line in DFW after 3 months? I talk to guys that I flew with when I was there and they tell me that it is several years to hold a line.
