Just remember that the overages that AFPC lists on their website can change as authorized manning levels change. If the AF can't get approval to keep their overage for 09 they will be forced to readjust these numbers to get the extra 10-12k out. I know for 07 certain groups were -50 or greater that then became 0's or +10's for 08. Obviously we'll know more as it gets closer to 09...

Flare,
No 11F's have never been eligible for VSP and weren't eligible for other ways to get out, such as LADSC and 2 yr Palace Chase
The Matrix AFPC shows doesn't have any positive numbers for 11F till you get to guys from the 1970s and early 1980's, i.e. generals...

[quote=Flare;344448]So there's no chance at Palace Chase for 11F's? Where does this matrix live? quote]
Go to the AFPC website (secure) from the portal. Then go to the Force Shaping section. In there they'll list the Force Shaping matrix by AFSC and year group. It's in excel.
Now given, Force Shaping is pretty much done for now, but the numbers will give you a good idea as to where your AFSC and year group stand; i.e. if you were considering traditional Palace Chase versus VSP. It's pretty easy... if your AFSC/ yeargroup breakdown are in the positives, you have a shot at palace chase. If it's zero or negative, then you can apply but will most likely get denied. It's a pure numbers game to the folks at Randolph, or so I've been told.

Flare, still got over a year at least and looking into working downstairs. Going to Randolph in June to upgrade.
I know Stitch in the 90th got a 12 month Palace Chase to go to the OH guard but was denied the 24 month PC due our 99 yr group numbers being negative. I think the rational for the 12 month PC is that they know you can just 7 day opt your assignment anyway

Just as the title says has anyone heard if there's going to be any FY09 VSP? I know the budget proposals for 09 did not include the bigger personnel numbers that the AF wanted so they are going to have to cut 12000+ more people. Thoughts?

I just attended a CC's Conference for TACP units... starting this year all flyers (cargo, fighters, UASs, Tankers, Recce, etc) will have ALO positions to fill due to growth of the career field. In addition, plan is to add Space and Intel Officers into the mix at a smaller allocation amount. Assignments are projected to be 3 years vs the current 2 and will target Captains and Majors. The heavy pilots will be in addition to the current AMLO requirements.
