Not sure why anyone wouldn't believe it. Looking at fleet numbers versus the decline in pilot group size is a clear indication of such. It ain't rocket science here...

[QUOTE=C2078;3148143]Not that difficult to figure out.

70+ XLs
30+ Sovereigns
10+ Gs

That’s over 100 airplanes that will be disposed in the coming years. Yes, they will be replaced by new airplanes, no doubt, but again, the net will not be that big. And as far as the pilots/plane, when I left it was around 5.3. Min contract is 5. So actually pretty easy to do the math.[/QUOTE

5.2

they had around 2600ish pilots in 2015 before the recall started for the 495ers. Now they have around 2400ish. Not quite 1000 but still a large %

You’re right. 2600ish and 2400ish is nowhere near 1000.

Recalls finished up in 2015, btw.

I was an almost 2800 seniority number when I was hired in 2015 and full classes were in motion. It crested 3,000 before it steadily dropped and is continuing to drop.

So, once they shrink down to 2300 that will be the magic number they will maintain?

There is currently a minimum of 5 pilots per airplane per the contract. The fleet fluctuates up and down and the company is currently at about 5.2 pilots per airplane. They make more money by operating with less so they will try to stay around 5 per airplane. If the company gets more airframes there will be more pilots needed once it gets down to 5 pilots per airplane and if they dispose of more, then they will let pilots keep leaving without replacement. They have said they want to go up over 500 airplanes in the US, but the growth has been stopped for now with Corona.

NJ did not have 2800 pilots in 2015, and most definitely nowhere near 3000. See attached. This is the last page of NOV 2015 Seniority List, it only went down from there.
