If they can get rid of quarter million dollar, limited use pilots and replace them with young, experienced $100,000 pilots, that is a huge win for them. Ironically, it's a win for the middle of the seniority list too.
I think it's more simple than that, considering all PICs are at the highest longevity step. The issue is people who have the seniority to hold a fleet that will be almost exclusively international, while being too old to actually do that flying. A quarter million dollar usable PIC is much preferrable to a quarter million dollar worthless PIC.

Exactly my point. With the 7500 looming, a large percentage of the pilots senior enough to hold it won’t be able to perform the mission. They are also the most expensive. The company must do something about the issue and I don’t think legislation or a unilateral policy change will happen.

So, what does that mean? Nothing will happen and the situation will remain the way it is?

It means a negotiated solution. Which will be underway shortly. Or no solution at all.

Well, I’m hoping for some sort of result that gets me hired in 2021. 👍

What is your interest in NetJets? Are you retiring from somewhere else? Are you ETS?

I had an interview and sim ride scheduled in April and then it was postponed. I currently fly for skywest. I have been going through the hiring process at netjets since last year.

Keep the NJA hope alive if that is what you truly want. But also apply to Atlas, K4, and some of the other airlines that might offer you a better paycheck and potential QOL while you are waiting. NetJets hired very few pilots over the last few years and the pilot group size has shrunk by several hundred pilots since 2015. Sounds like they are continuing the trend with a potential early out package. I wouldn't hold my breath on getting a call. Hopefully, you do get that call as that is what you want, but I would plan contingencies...

I think it’s netjets or bust. If I don’t get hired, I’m just gonna stay at skywest. I’d rather build seniority here to ride out another airline dip then go to mainline and get furloughed in a few years. I can always make more money as a check airmen or sim instructor.

NetJets can, and has furloughed... I would expand your options. None of the cargo carriers have even dipped in their profitability right now.
