I know there was a flights per day metric you could look at, but isn't there also a live leg percentage you can see as well?
When a 25 hour card holder buys in, they buy at least 50 hours worth of ownership. If there is just the historical level of card to owner graduation, first the flight times will be back to normal and then go higher than before. That is the big if that management is waiting on. They are super cautious. That said, the forecast over the next week is for over 330 customer legs per day. That is getting closer to last year than I expected. I don't keep track of the numbers from before, other than remembering that they keep going up. There are many who aren't doing a lot of flying now (especially in the large cabin with a big lack of international flying now), but there are still many flying quite a bit. I believe scheduling has made an effort to chop down the flight pay so they are spreading the flying more evenly than before and slowing crews down when they are getting around the magic 12.1 hours per tour. I really don't see hiring unless there is a lot of card to share graduation.

I only have 17 years left in my career. It’s starting to seem like NetJets just ain’t gonna happen and it certainly won’t happen with enough career left to upgrade to captain.

i never planned on making a career at a regional, but it’s looking more and more like that’s the way it’s gonna be.

And good luck finding more than a few 30-somethings in the left seat, NJA has an aging group.
You said you weren't going to talk about that incident....

Yeah but you got better since counseling (for the uninitiated, that's an inside joke).

I would agree, even in my best case scenario you wouldn’t be a captain until like six years left if your career if you hit here right away. I enjoy the job and am happy I came. I am also younger so I have plenty of years left. We all have to do what’s best for us and our families.

Default probably career SIC

I was hired in 2008 at the age of 48. Wasn't too worried about upgrade at the time, it was pay and bennys and a good schedule that I was leaving my 135 gig for NJ.
In 2009, I was furloughed. I was 135 up from the bottom of the 495 of us sent home.
Recalled in 2014 at the age of 54.
I just turned 60. I am now 300 up from the bottom, and 300 down from the lowest PIC. I mostly fly with Captains who are awesome, and also at least 10 years junior to me. I doubt I'll ever see upgrade without major attrition above me, but I honestly don't care. I like my schedule, I'm on 13 year pay on the 7&7, and my pay is better than what I would make in corporate or 135, especially with FDP. I was never in the right place at the right time for airline work, so it is what it is. I get 3 weeks off 4 times a year, which few of my airline friends get. I will be able to live comfortably on my 401k, I hope to fly another 6 years and be done at 66.
This being said, if you come to NJ, it will entirely depend on how old you are when you do it and where you are in comparison to the demographics of the pilot group at the time.

It’s funny. I went to a regional to get the experience to apply at NetJets. That was my end goal. Now it’s shot to hell and I’m stuck at a regional.

the upgrade picture doesn’t look any better than netjets, because my upgrade is completely dependent on mainline hiring again and that may not happen for a very long time.

I’ll figure something out.

NetJets as an SIC isn't all bad. I have been here almost 15 years. I chose to bypass upgrade to stay in the Global. I am very happy. I have lots of time off and make enough money for me and my family to be comfortable minus the toys. I guess I could afford toys of I did the higher paying schedules, if I had taken the upgrade, or if I chose not to save for retirement, but I am quite happy doing what I am doing. While you wouldn't be able to hold the Global or whatever is the biggest, bestest as an SIC until you are closing in on PIC in the smallest, worstest, it is still most likely a far superior job to the regionals even as a captain there. It is also a job you can realistically get and probably before the majors start humming along again. While hiring isn't likely to be a near term thing here, if the card holders really graduate to cards at reasonable, historical levels, there will be hiring likely before the airlines get everyone back and the pipeline gets unclogged at the regionals. Unfortunately it will just take longer than you planned. Good luck what ever way you end up going.

You are a small piece of that FO puzzle. I was XL for almost 13 years as an Fo. Had to leave, it was a whole different job in the light cabin compared to the global.
