Not that difficult to figure out.

70+ XLs

That’s over 100 airplanes that will be disposed in the coming years. Yes, they will be replaced by new airplanes, no doubt, but again, the net will not be that big. And as far as the pilots/plane, when I left it was around 5.3. Min contract is 5. So actually pretty easy to do the math.

Well, once the 5 pilots per airplane rule is in jeopardy, because too many senior pilots spontaneously turned to dust while enroute to Jackson, WY I will be ready. I’ve been in the queue for a final interview for awhile.

I’m assuming the company won’t shrink until it disappears.

I don’t think they can get much leaner, but as long as disposals equal or outpace new deliveries, you won’t see much hiring, unless people start leaving in droves. Unfortunately many folks at NJ have the proverbial golden handcuffs, and the job has improved over the years, so I don’t see many people leaving anytime within the next 10 years.

For some reason I thought you were implying you still worked there and had actual company information.

Having been there 15+ years, I have many good friends there, several in Training and Mgmt, so my info is pretty recent and pretty close to reality. You can choose to believe the info I just stated, or not, makes no difference to me, just providing some perspective.

I will keep my contact info up to date then. When they need pilots in 10 years, I will be ready.

No silly!! They will trickle hire continuously IMO. If I had to guess, 50-60 year for the time being. Keep up your persistence if you really want to work there. They do like people who REALLY want to work there.

I check in once per month with HR to let them know I’m ready. As long as she keeps replying, I will keep checking at the beginning of the month.

If I’m giving up a nice comfy E175 for a Phenom, it’s safe to assume I want the job.

It is still around 150 pilots fat. Now is that really "fat" perse? I wouldn't call it fat but with barely a net gain in airplanes for the foreseeable future, the only way you are getting hired is because of attrition. It will happen, dude, I know you want it, and hope you get it, but having massive growth with airplanes that equates to pilots, is pure fantasy.

In fact, they could easily park planes right now while flying demand is below target, which would further prevent hiring for the immediate future. NJA was strong enough to stay the course for the time being, which is great. That's way more than anyone could say in 2008, but it doesn't appear it would make much sense to expand and attack right now.
