Just got a phone interview scheduled today. I applied back in Jan. - Feb. of 2017. Over 6000 TT, several types, most of my experience is with corporate executive officers and celebrities on the 135 side of things, international ops. I feel like it took forever to hear a peep out of Netjets HR. After reading most of this thread I'm really thinking hard about what I might be looking for from Netjets. Seems that with the forever upgrades, ie none in sight, its just not worth it. And on the other hand I've heard its a great stepping stone to a major, SW, DAL, AA, etc. I guess my question would be, is Netjets a career move now? Can I make Netjets my last job and enjoy it?

Is NetJets a great stepping stone to the majors? Absolutely not. Is it possible to go from Netjets to a major? Yes it is.

Percentage wise, places like NetJets are in the smallest percentage of those hired by majors per month. You will have to work harder to get hired at an airline if you don’t have any 121 time. That’s right now, it’s constantly changing and every airline is hiring in droves for the foreseeable future so I have no doubt that the ability to go to an airline from NetJets will become easier and easier.

The question on whether you’ll be happy or not entirely depends on you. Nobody can answer that but you. NetJets doesn’t have a bright future, and for new hires the future is downright bleak. In fact this conversation is moot, they aren’t hiring lol... The only company in aviation history to shrink during the boom. Oh I guess PenAir just filed for chapter 11 so they are one step below NetJets.

Maybe NeJets is waiting to expand and hire furloughed airline pilots again like they did in 2001.

Yes, they pay around $100/125 depending on if you need an EKG or not. You earn the two weeks during the first year you work to be used sometime in the second year.

Netjets is not a stepping stone to the majors. There are tons of FOs and PIC with their stuff out and not a peep. If your long term goal is big airplanes, I would strongly recommend Spirit or Jetblue. They hire corporate guys and if you get stuck there, it's much better than stuck at NJA. Of course if you live in a small town, than NJA's home basing is very valuable.

Guys, don't make life decisions based on a web board do yourself a favor ,do due diligence , do research, but if your ultimate goal is the Airlines either go with the flow (regional) , or ULCC , JB , Frontier et al . This place works for some of us , the rest have their stuff out , SWA ,UPS, Virgin / Alaska seem to like our alumni . Cheers out : )

Yes. Up to about $125 for a basic exam, and about $250 for one that includes the EKG.

You accrue vacation each year. The "Vacation year" is 10/1 to 9/30. First-year pilots accrue two weeks of vacation. If you're hired mid-way, say on 4/1, your accrual would be pro-rated, so you'd accrue one week, to be used during the next vacation year (10/1-9/30).

Wouldn't you agree that part of the research is reading message boards such as this one to get a feel for the operation from the people who actually fly the line? I consider that feedback an important part of the puzzle.

When the number of people telling applicants "buyer beware" outnumbers the purveyors of balloons and ponies 4-1, I'd say that's a valid (and troubling) data point.

Please , I stand by my statement, the majority of the guys/girls I fly with don't reflect this board, and even the ones moving on aren't nearly as negative as some of the extremes venting here. YMMV cheers out ; )
