Unlikely...he's far too militant and generally disliked the vast majority of pilots there. Even if he did win, expect a legit recall effort shortly thereafter.

Pedro seems like a good guy and a respectable union president, but if the union doesn't find some new blood (especially in the negotiator ranks), the union is doomed.

He is a nice guy. But look a little more closely in the pictures and you can ALMOST see the fishing line....

With ~2,500 pilots on the property I'm optimistic there is a lot of talent. I'm not sure we use that talent to it's full potential.

I believe NJA can be a lot more than a company stuck between a regional and LCC. I hope I'm not overly optimistic, we certainly do need a little (a lot) of change here and there.

There are some aspects of the operation and company that are very nice.

Problem is, the move to change should have happened right now.

Default Swimming in the pool

Gents, I too am taking a lap in the pilot pool. Here's a few of the things I heard at the interview. New hires will be put into Phenom 300 or Latitude; there is more need for CA's than FO's in that airframe (take that as you will, given the lack of upgrades). The Latitude, which is being purchased at a fast clip, will be awarded to the taller new hires. Upgrades will be 5-7 years (this is what I was told, don't shoot the messenger).
I was very excited to be hired by NJ, because it is a huge improvement over my past couple of 135 operations. But being in a pool is not the same as a job, is it? After reading this thread (and thank you for that!), I feel like I need to take a look at the regionals again. Would welcome further guidance, thoughts, wise-@$$ comments, whatever.

Whoever gave you that upgrade time is smoking crack AND meth.

I don't see how this could even remotely be possible, with the number of current sic's that would need to upgrade ahead of a newhire! Even if they did grow exponentially and experience significant retirements, they couldn't dream of training that many pilots to bring upgrades down to 5-7 years. Unbelievable that they are telling you guys that! WOW, just WOW!

It is good to see that they still are willing to lie to potential new hires in order to get them to sign up. If upgrades drop to below double what you quoted I will be shocked.

Go to a regional man...
