Being assigned a fleet as a new hire is 100% correct. Look for Phenom, XL, 680, and maybe the Latitude. The Latitude should be offered to new hires soon.
Thanks for elaborating- Any idea if having a 680 type already would help placing me in that fleet?

As a practical matter, enough guys are voluntarily on those schedules that they won't have to force anybody, but if you're in the bottom 10% (I believe) of a given fleet, it's a possibility.

Keep in mind also that you'll be on the 18-day Training schedule, followed by the CC72, from the day you start until you're able to bid onto the 7/7. As the bids are only done three times a year, you may not be able to get the 7/7 for a number of months after you start.

Thanks for the response!

They don't take that into account at all. They put you where they need bodies or whatever sim slots are available. Their thinking is that they have to send you through the entire program anyway. Sometimes they have multiple fleets available and will ask which you prefer. It never hurts to ask what they have available when the time comes.

1.5% of your gross compensation.

Not sure if they charge probationary pilots (1st year). They didn't used to.

No difference whatsoever. You'll be assigned into the fleet where they need bodies.

Welcome to the suck.

Why would anyone apply to go work that many days a month?

Because it's the only way to make a decent salary.

That's tough. Are they not qualified for WN or anyone else with a future?

NJA is unique, and it has a certain demographic of pilot right by the balls. Guys that were furloughed 15-18 years ago from the airlines and sought refuge at Netjets, are now stuck. Either the airlines didn't call them when they tried to get hired, or they got totally screwed via a merger (TWA guys) and didn't take recall for whatever reason. Now they make ok money, and have lots of seniority which makes them feel safe. But to make the money that their brothers and sisters make at the airlines at a similar DOH and seat, they have to work 19 days a month. Hell there are guys that EXTEND and work more. It is the only way guys say that you can make as much at NJA as the airlines, is working 19 days a month or more.
