They do. I have 3 former NJA friends there that left NJA several months ago. They couldn’t be happier and they all have said that SWA really likes NJA pilots. Fantastic career move.

Good for you guys!

For us near-fossils with golden handcuffs, we can only watch with some professional envy as you take advantage of the wave.

Our career timing wasn’t quite as good but every time another of you makes the right choice and moves on, it (hopefully) helps move the needle in the right direction for those of us left behind. Sooner or later, the company will HAVE to do something to make the job more attractive to stem the flood of departures.

Best of luck!

Funny thing is one of my buddies who I fly with a lot and is 4 stripes, interviewed with me and was offered the gig. This place is losing it's really good people for sure. Even if I moved up magically to the left seat, I gotta believe I would be running for the exit just as fast. More money won't improve my QOL enough to stay.

That realization was what solidified my decision to leave 100%, no questions asked. What amount of money is worth that QOL? I couldn't come up with an answer that wasn't completely comical. Funny thing is, you can have your cake and eat it to at SWA (although you will fly 4-5 legs a day ) as I think your QOL will improve immensely and the pay won't even been the same universe.

The scary part is after all that time devoted to NJA, with only 200 below you, if they furlough, you would probably still be on the chopping block. You will have 500 below you by the end of the year at SWA more than likely.

If netjets brought on an age 65 rule would you recommend netjets? I would assume that would create a lot of movement and a much shorter upgrade.

As a job, yes. As a career, no.

I don't think upgrades are going down below 10 years even with the 65 rule. NJA has zero expansion plans and is probably still in its shrinking phase. Without expansion, the 65 rule just creates a snails pace movement instead of complete stagnation.

Got ya. Can I ask why? The schedule, ca pay, and vacation look pretty attractive to me. The downside to me looks like 401k, workload, and maybe job security.

Can someone follow up on this. I agree it certainly looks attractive.

For example, the ten-year, 7&7 FO schedule pay is less than $100k/year for the pleasure of working at a pace that is (according to the CEO) harder than an airline pilot works for. To have any semblance of pay parity with your peers you will have to work the 19-day per month schedule. Add to this that NJs is scheduling its pilots to the point of exhaustion every single tour as evidenced by the skyrocketing fatigue numbers...
