And you get to fly the most modern equipment to places you never went in your military/121 career. Not much downside there.

So true. With most of the Majors hiring, a lot of young guys are going to get their shot at the gold ring. Hopefully, a lot of young NetJets pilots will get to move on as well. That could open up the upgrade times.
You literally answered your own question. Fractionals have always been a place where retired 121 types can go to continue their flying career. If you've socked $1.5M in your 401k and have your military and airline pensions coming in every month, you don't need to sweat upgrade time.

Basing? Newbie when it comes to Netjets so just a guess, but for a guy who thinks he could get a better base and really doesn't want the airline commute anymore I could see it being attractive.

There's a plethora of pilots in the Majors who are very happy to spend their career in the right seat of a widebody. Pay is adequate and they never have to go commuting to chase an upgrade on a narrow body and sit reserve.
You have a point...if upgrade is the key to your happiness. QOL, days off and preferred routes is what does it for a whole lot of pilots.
