at least you got an injun to play with!!

While that's true, she hasn't been out to play in over a month! I just walked by her today on the way to my other plane. Kinda sad. Hopefully it will pick back up in February.

New Bids
Has any AMFers had a chance to check out the new open bids on the portal? What's going on up in SLC? Hopefully this is all in response to growth and proactive hiring.
BFI has two PA31 openings as well as DFW for those on here that were looking at those two bases. |

man, BFI or PDX would be a dream come true for me... I hope these stay open till I get done with training!
|
I've been told that the reason SLC is open is because they are understaffed. My buddy told me that the ACP in SLC has been flying a regular run each week, and that they want him to stop flying.
If people are willing to move out to Buffalo, NY, I can definitely see BFI and SLC going fast. |

Dfw
DFW would be great, as would CVG, but even better would be just a steady JOB.

sorry. I should have been more specific. The acp has been doing SOME flying. They are trying to have them spend more time at the base.
I fly some...(repostion flight today and I am flying Jackson thursday) but as stated, the push is to have enough pilots so that the ACP's are not part of the required line pilot staff... There is plenty enough for us to do behind the desk right now...I dont even want to count the number of hours in the office I spent last week. Not to say that we wont be filling in on runs to cover vacation, days off, or when we just need a bit of sunshine :). |

Hiring 12/month all year |
Still Hiring
Just got an email invitation today for an interview. Interviewing for an April 5th class date. Hiring for approximately 10 PA31 captains per month in to the OAK and PDX bases. Interviews to be conducted in BUR, PHX, SLC, OAK, PDX, or SEA.

First day of class, they give you the PA31 supplement and tell you not to worry about it. Well, get the flows memorized! i did and it has made it easier for the sim training. |

I'll second the flows. Don't stress the knowledge stuff in indoc. Flows are what will be the challenge come sim time.

Hey guys,
I've gotten my stuff in to Ameriflight for a while, but I haven't heard anything back. Right now I'm trying to figure out whether I'm simply not competitive or they're just busy. I currently have 1300TT 800 135 XC 200 night 100 In flight IFR 20 of which is actual. 65 multi. Given the above numbers am I just not competitive or is it something else? |

If you meet mins then yo're competitive. BUT the big difference is they can pick and choose who they want. Do you have 135 PIC time? I've noticed alot of the guys being hired are coming from other 135 companies and many have 1000hrs PIC and exceed ATP mins. Thats just what I've seen. Good luck |

Unfortunately, all i have is "CFI stinky loser" time :). I'll be patient and tactfully harass them. |

You'll probably find that Ameriflight is the most regimented flying job you've ever had, unless you've already worked for a 121 airline. They're heavily into SOPs, checklist flows, and flying their airplanes THEIR way. Sounds tough, but while other outfits are furloughing and parking airplanes Ameriflight has bought two BE-1900s and a Brasilia in the past six months or so. This is their 42nd year in business, their paychecks have always cleared the bank, and they're running new-hire classes every month. Do a good job, follow the rules, and stick it out for a few years. Concentrate on getting domiciled where you'll get a wide variety of flying experience rather than your favorite place to live. It won't be a vacation in paradise, but that experience has repeatedly been proven to look very tasty to the major airlines. |
