I make more as a 2 year FO working half the time than a 10 year Metro CA. I would hardly throw big raises out there like the entire payscale is getting adjusted, because it isn't.
Raises, being plural, in the time since he left it has been pretty dramatic. And, ahem, get your facts straight, all Metro pilots are getting a bigger bonus, not just 1-2 years.

So there is an after hire bonus that goes beyond 24 months?

20 percent annual retention bonus starts at end of year 2.

Big money for a cargo pilot; not big money for a pilot.

Good potential money, but bonuses can be pulled any time, for any reason. They could completely do away with the bonus and incorporate it into the salary structure. There is a reason they don't.

I will say, if you want to make a bit more money than the regionals, and get some 135 turbine PIC time. Go do 2 years and make some ok money doing it. That is 2 years lost seniority at a regional though.

I'm not gonna argue that it is the best paying job out there. Clearly your wrist watch is bigger.

On the other hand, some of us have flown passengers and aren't really into it. We like the freedom of flying cargo. If it is a fit, it's a fit, and the raises make our flying habit sustainable as a career.

Yep, senior guys get all the worst routes. You should see what I have to put up with. Before LSRanger gets on and whines about what his life was like as a junior pilot, we are on the subject of a sustained career flying cargo, not just using AMF as a stepping stone. Like any job, you gotta gain seniority.

I agree with you on the bonuses. We clearly saw it with the regionals in 2008, and will surely see it again.

A few things to consider with AMF though... The retention bonuses have been around a long time (even through the depths of the recession). The previous round of bonuses were incorporated into the pay structure permanently. And if If may speculate on and internet forum with a disclaimer that I have little information to back this up.... The Metro bonuses might last as long as the airplane flies. Not to hard to guess where I'm going with that.

I get it, you will hang out at your mediocre job that tops out at 100K a year because it fits what you want out of life. More power to you. But I would imagine most of the folks looking at this thread are looking at getting in at the bottom of the list, not at the top. They won't see a schedule like yours for quite a while.
