Yea I have CFI, CFII and MEI and work as an instructor now. The problem is the weather in Seattle kills my hours in the winter. I struggled through last year, but I don't want to do it again. It certainly is the comfortable thing to do it seems. Maybe I'm just impatient.

I would say dont get tied down with the contract if you cant swing SAN. Especially on FO pay which is $1232 a month. That wont cut it in SoCal

Is it really that bad @ SeaPort? What makes it that horrible? How is MEM base? FO's Schedules? Just asking because I applied this week.

Current pilot in MEM told me they are FO heavy and won't be calling folks till at least November. Was also told that FOs are getting 40 hours a month in MEM.

This is exactly right. They can't hold onto Captains at this time, so are very FO heavy. There are over 15 FOs in the pipeline for flight training at this time, so do not expect a call for many, many months.

With that said, if you are qualified as a street Captain, you will get picked up quickly.

How can 15 FOs sit and wait without getting paid? That's a tough one.

Well...they hire guys and give a ground school date. However they also say in the offer letter that there is no guarantee that one will begin the flight training portion directly upon completion of ground school. You are paid for ground but not while you wait for flight training. So while you wait to be called for flight training you either find another job or hopefully you had enough vacation saved to attend the ground school in the first place. I know guys that waited more than 6 months to flight train.

Heck man 15 FO's in the pipeline waiting to be trained? They can only train two at a time and they train in the aircraft they use on everyday routes. No one will train at night and all the training captains are all timed out where they can't fly anymore during the day. It's ridiculous. They bought a redbird sim and they don't use it. At least not when I was there. I swear they are trying to just run the company into the ground. No one can be as dum as management is there. It's really hard for me to believe! Alright I'm done. I'm not going to say anything else on this thread. I'm sorry for my rants.
