Hello all. I am currently in a JetBlue gateway program through Aviator College, Cape Air, and then back to JetBlue. All of the recent post has me second guessing my position. Contract is go to Cape at 750 hrs, upgrade at ATP mins, and fulfill the year contract to get back to JetBlue. For those with recent experience is it worth it? I live in Fort Lauderdale so if I can get to SJU I could commute. What are typically junior stations? How many flight hours are typical per month? I don’t care too much about the pay if I can upgrade quickly and do my year as B6 FO Base pay is around 90k.

It's interesting seeing all the negative comments about Cape Air. I was there 3 years. My experience was very good. I am at a regional now and Cape Air prepared me well. I never felt pressured to go, felt the MX was very good. Never had an issue writing something up or getting something fixed if I wasn't comfortable. Yes, depending on when you join, you may or may not get the bases you want. I was lucky and was able to get the bases I wanted fairly quickly, but was prepared for the worst. All in all, it's a great company as advertised. Just my two cents. Feel free to PM with any questions.

Curious to hear from some Cape pilots who are/were in a pathway. I'm a CFI in the JetBlue Gateway and seriously considering Cape. I've heard that at its best, Cape is some of the best flying you will do in your career. There are many things that are appealing about it to me. What worries me is that I've heard unlike going to Skywest or Endeavor, getting hired at a major straight out of Cape may be near impossible if the gateway were to fall through for some reason. I would be back at square one then. Is this still the case with the pilot shortage at the majors?
What does the 1yr contract timeline look like for an R-ATP candidate? Is captain upgrade 1500hrs regardless? Would Cape be any quicker than a traditional regional for getting to JetBlue?
My main dilemma is do I take the shot and apply for Cape or continue instructing to R-ATP mins and go fly CRJ's like everyone else. Thank you in advance for your insight!

Make the walk and make sure you’re not leaving commuters at the gate. These gate agents won’t even afford us the opportunity to speak to the pilots who’d be most likely more than willing to make sure we get home to our families.
Nothing like jumping the pond, running to the gate and being listed for a flight days prior only to find out that the pilot left 30 minutes early.

Down to around 70 bidding captains & losing EAS routes. SICs not flying due to CA shortage.
