Also, *triple* premium is not condoned by the Union and is not covered by the CBA. I guess it’s ok though if it personally benefits you...

I'll make this easy:
Getting something that is good for the pilot that is not in the contract = Good
Letting the company not give you something that they are contractually obligated to give you = Bad

Just imagine if certain people got tired of working OT all the time.... the whole pilot group could benefit from it. However some people just love that extra gravey to much and would rather benefit themselves instead of helping the entire pilot group get gains.

Think of the contract as minimum protections they have to offer you. If it benefits you to waive them, you are entitled to do so (like working yourself down to less than 11 days off).
What they can't do, however, is tell you that you have to waive your protections or you will be penalized (like saying you either accept no days off before training or you'll have a withdrawal from training on your record).
Totally different things.
Also, how old am I? Don't remember ever reading someone talk about their age on here

So here's an update for everyone regarding the cancelled upgrade classes. I just flew with a pretty senior FO who was in the two cancelled classes.
He got a call from BF (not the company, but union BF) yeyesterday telling him they struck a deal. The company will send 5 upgrades to the April 8 class, but they have to waive their four (or is it five?) home study days. Instead, the FOs will fly the line right up until they go to class.
The FO I was flying with told BF no, that's not right, and I don't wanna do that. BF told the FO that if he says that, it will be considered a refusal and count as a training failure on his record. So the 5 FOs who are going are being FORCED to waive their contractually guaranteed home study days, under the threat of getting a black mark on their record. And BF was 100% backing the company up on this, at least from what my FO told me. How can they get away with that and how does BF even still hold a position in our union?

Whose fault is it that we're short on FOs? Is it the pilot group's fault? No. It is the company's fault that we're short on FOs.
Is the company doing everything they can to get flying covered? No, look at open time. Out of 85 trips in open time, only 5 are listed for triple. 52 of them aren't listed for any premium pay at all.
