The FO I was flying with told BF no, that's not right, and I don't wanna do that. BF told the FO that if he says that, it will be considered a refusal and count as a training failure on his record. So the 5 FOs who are going are being FORCED to waive their contractually guaranteed home study days, under the threat of getting a black mark on their record. And BF was 100% backing the company up on this, at least from what my FO told me. How can they get away with that and how does BF even still hold a position in our union?
Outrageous! From both the company and BF! Regardless if it was training failure or withdrawal, no First Officer should have punitive action taken if the company isn’t holding THEIR end of the contract. The audacity is unfathamable. Why do we stand here and let them do this, push back hard.

BF operates at the direction of the elected reps. If this is in fact true, call them and hold them accountable. He reports to them, not the other way around. If the company can’t go without FOs for four days then they shouldn’t hold the class. Expecting these few individuals to pick up the slack due to MISmanagement isn’t right.

A call to the FAA would end that...

Tell BF to make public the LOA or LOU that's gives management the relief from contract regarding this issue. If there is none, tell him to ram it.

Nobody was forced. They went down the list and if you agreed to it, great. If not, they skipped you. There was absolutely no threat.

Does that constitute being bypassed since you wouldn’t agree to something that wasn’t in the contract?

Are you saying the withdrawal from training is not accurate info?

Upgrade was a little different when I did it years ago on the dash... but day one you walked into a class took a limitations test with a bit of system knowledge required. Of you got less than a 90 hour dreams of upgrade were over.

Also during those days off prior to class I got my business at home in order so I didn't have to worry about being away for a month.

This whole thing sounds so shady. I don't understand how you can be bypassed if you don't agree to work. That delays possible pay raise and possible bonus entitlements.

For what it's worth, I think the FO was just going to go with it and not ruffle any feathers. All he did was tell me what was said during the phone call, I think the whole thing got under my skin a lot more than his, even though I have no dog in this particular fight.
