Umm ok. Also JetBlue has sap with pbs. I've never used line bidding and I would love to have the conflicts with vacation, but I seem to consistently get better schedules then my buddies at carriers that have line bidding. I don't think pbs will ruin your life like people say.
Issue for me is the unknown. This company has proven time and time again that they are unwilling to abide by words written on a piece of paper. I know what we have now and it is FANTASTIC. What will we get with PBS+SAP? I don't know, but I guarantee the company will try to f%$# us on it some way or another.

I'm set unless they wanna offer 30+ per hour across the board, 15 per month flow, trip/duty rigs, 5 hour min day no restrictions, 12 days off in a 31 day month, and aggressive pick up no restrictions for reserves(as awarded or displaced).

Anything less pound sand.

If all you're looking at is the open time post SAP, or trips in build up line, it's easy to see why you would think that's true.

If you look at the totality of trips that are available for Round 1 lines after they've built the trips, the average for a four day is 20-21 hours.

Could be better, sure, but it's not as terrible as the people who only look at the small sample size of post SAP open time or build up trips would make you think.

If you work at JetBlue and SAP and use to work at PSA and SAPed then your in the best position to shed light on all of this.
I am open to anything that is a verified improvement, and am not close minded, but its totally irrelevant if you think some BrandX PBS is better than some BrandX line award with conflicts. The SAP changes the whole dynamic.
Nope I'm an rah guy. I haven't used line bidding or sap. I am looking forward to sap. I have to say that I do like pbs. Just an observation that my schedules tend to be better than my buddies at psa and expressjet which use line bidding. Obviously don't give up line bidding unless you get something in return. Fact is pbs is much more efficient for the company but I think it can be beneficial for the pilot group as well. Good luck and I hope you can get some good stuff in return if you go to pbs.

New to reserve again as a captain. Back to basics question... when can we call scheduling (to beg) to be released? Is it after the last flight of the day has left? I'm on 1100scr.

Haven't been on reserve for years but I always just called to get my time for the next day. I never called to be released I would just know I was released when either the RAP was done or there was no way they could use me and stay within the confines of the contract/duty limits.

Your schedules tend to be better in what terms? Days off, total credit, maximum amount of flying in least amount of days, holidays off? Your schedule may be better than our pilots on reserve or on a build up line, but I highly doubt it is better than any of our Round 1 guys who can use the SAP to tailor their schedule to their liking. My first year here at PSA, after I was off reserve, I didn't work one weekend that I didn't want to work, and had every holiday off. Can you do that with PBS as a junior pilot at RAH, or even as a senior pilot for that matter?

Before the round 1 awards, the trips are good enough at PSA. The lines awarded during round 1 are terrible. After the round 1 award, tons of awful trips are created as a result of the bidding process and conflicts.

During the SAP, you can trade around, get rid of split trips and try to get whatever days off you want. But, there's only a limited amount of good trips to trade with due to all the crappy trips created from conflicts. Only a small percentage of savvy pilots get schedules with high credit trips and the exact days off they want, it's not easy and most people have to settle with low credit trips to get certain days/weekends off.

With PBS, your low credit split trips no longer exist. Pilots have higher daily average which is why the Republic guy says his schedules are better. He's probably looking at the higher credit trips. The best of both worlds would be PBS plus PSA's version of SAP. You can't compare the current line bid plus SAP with other regionals that have PBS because no one has an unrestricted SAP like PSA's with their PBS. Lots of places have SAP and PBS, but their SAPs all have restrictions.

This is not true. I get what I want every single month. 16-18 days off with every day/holiday/whatever I need.

I agree with this. I haven't had less than 15 days off this entire year (usually 16-19 days off) and I never have an issue getting the days off I want. The SAP doesn't always work as we would like it too, but it does work. I usually credit around 65 hours with 18-19 days off and if I only want off 16-17 days I can credit 70-80 hours. Buddy of mine in DAY ended up with about 70 hours of credit with 20 days off this month. That's really hard to do and takes a degree of luck but not impossible. Especially with the summer schedules we've had this year. 20+ hour trips are more the norm. I've had more 22+ hour 4 days than not this summer.
