Yep. Instead of showing leadership, management is doubling down on fear and intimidation. Pilots are now taking pictures of flight deck switch positions as part of their post flight for fear of section 18. The union seems to be of the mindset that if you make a small mistake, you're on your own.

This is how toxic safety cultures are born. Hopefully they change tack before this place becomes dangerous.

In fairness, there has been how many emails, letters, announcements, flight bulletins about nose wheel steering/shear pin issues?

and yet its still happening...

there is some relevance to that

but.. This is obviously a systemic problem. It happens over and over and over again with lots of different crews. One solution is “how do we change the system so that the problems stop happening?” The other option is “lets keep the same system but threaten the people who operate it.” The latter choice is sometimes effective, but the former one is the better way to run an airline.

THIS…but clearly management and those in the “safety” department at PSA would rather keep the broken system so they can Section 18 people to keep the airline staffed. Their intentions are clear.

This is what I was trying to say. A good safety culture seeks the root cause so they may eliminate or reduce it. This does not seem to be happening.

Commute from DFW

Just wondering if the commute to DCA, PHL, DAY, and CLT is pretty easy from DFW? Looks like a lot of flights on American to those locations. I would like to stay in Dallas and commute. I know life on reserve would be better in your domicile. However, really like the metroplex.

Hub to hub commutes are awful. Pick something else

Safety has nothing to do with Section 18s. Flight Ops Management wields the, “big stick” in most airlines and PSA is not immune to that. So when the executive team tells them to “fix” something they have a limited number of tools available to them in their tool chest. Hence the disciplinary hearings.

I have a complex and nuanced answer for you. But I will not post it here or anywhere publicly.

I used to do DFW/DAL to DCA..it wasn't too bad. Plenty of flights.
